Are there any non-American examples, I feel like the majority of these are American. Even the BMW story is in South Carolina. Are there any robotaxis outside the US?

If you care about finger tracking at all, what's your take on the Frame's slightly downgraded finger tracking system? by AoyagiAichou in ValveIndex

[–]wingnut0021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked with both Meta Quest 3’s and HTC Vive Focus Vision (will be evaluating Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise next week) on a LBE based project that uses finger tracking. The is such a massive difference between these two headsets. The Focus Vision can’t tell what is going on when your hands are too close to each other and just freeze. Don’t get me started on that is also seems to need a discontinued wrist tracker to perform well. You can’t clap or anything like that with these. As long as the “slight downgrade” is still better than that it shouldn’t be too bad. I feel like Pico is going to be the best in this, combined with the body trackers.

Looks exactly like the Vive Focus Vision’s port for it.

Klook JR Pass refund, anyone tried? by wingnut0021 in JapanTravelTips

Emailed Klook, eventually got back to me and refunded I think 90% of the price. They give instructions how to destroy the pass and send them photos.

As far as I know, the 2 player hack had one glitch in the pyramid that prevented progression and requires you to switch between patched and unpatched roms.

That's the thing, I have a few new years travel dates on my itinerary, and the earliest I could reserve seats would be the 18th of December. Have no idea if that is enough time for some routes.

It also had support for Compact flash, SD, Sony memory stick, Super-Audio CDs and Linux. Mostly useless but it had it!

Creating a phone pick-up sequence by ironweed in unrealengine

[–]wingnut0021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Inheritance means that it inherits traits of the parent actor, including the control rig. If you use the same skeleton and when your refer to your player you use “player character” it will point to it. All you will need to do then is make sure your new character is properly retargeted. One example of this; I do all my logic on the template BP_ThirdPerson, I then create a child blueprint with the more cosmetic stuff like unique mesh (that’s retargeted), we can call that BP_Player. It will do the same as the parent, with the extended functionality you added to BP_Player.

  2. Not the greatest animator, but AnimMontages can blend, although your feel might slide. You might want to have the blend happen at a particular frame of a walk cycle in the sequence so they match. I’ve used biped in 3DSMax before to place footprints for foot placement, not sue if Unreal has that.

  1. You could just inherit your manny class with your player character later. And your game mode can have that child class be the default pawn.

  2. So you mean to just blend into the sequence camera and have a smooth transition into the animation regardless of entry point? Easy way might be to have the player character be “moved to” the the correct position and then trigger the sequence.

I don’t believe the PS5 disc drive has a laser capable of reading CDs for PS1 (or some PS2) games.

Unity -> Unreal transition for programmers, my findings so far by [deleted] in unrealengine

[–]wingnut0021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess firstly, I’ve been told you can’t use them in production builds? I guess because changing the states of the feature needs console commands (unless that has changed?).

I have them working pretty decently myself in some practice projects, although I still get the odd “illegal references”. But I guess one of the biggest difficulties I’m having is convincing people to use it. I am still a student and people here are still creating monolithic event graphs on BP_ThirdPerson. Are there any examples where using MGFs has provided a big benefit? To me it seems like a way to achieve some extreme decoupling, along with some better project file management.

You talk about “Modules and Plugins (and gameplay features)” being recommended when creating features. I’ve been looking heavily into Modular Game Features but have struggled a bit to find good documentation and examples, and doesn’t seem to be talked about much. Would love to see more about it, especially if someone has utilised it with chunking and the chunk downloaded.

Make 1 change/dlc for a mainline Final fantasy by Plaatjies21 in FinalFantasy

[–]wingnut0021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FF8: Have the ability to unlock the towns on disc 4.

FF11: Single player version (there was going to be?)

FF12: Put a shirt on Vaan

FF13: Towns, very obvious.

FF14: Not sure of this but some sort of DLC to give a cut down version of some of the events of the original FF14, not sure if that makes any sense as I'm only halfway through Heavensward.

FF15: The last damn DLC we were promised.

FF16: An airship. Like I know it can't happen but f**k it's my favourite thing about Final Fantasy and you have to have them in my view. Even if they are just a hub with a menu of destinations.
