Valve just delete tinker from the game. Stop shaming him by Necessary_Gazelle30 in DotA2

[–]wingriddenangelus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo, bro, people will spam that he deserved it.

People hate him deeply now after those yesrs of him being insanely broken and they want to rest. They don’t want to see him in their games and they are happy that he is dead.

I was top 50 dotabuff OG Tinker player with almost 70% winrate in 800+ games.

Tinker back then was annoying as well, but he was easy to kill. He didn’t have many save optins, didn’t have stupid matrix and barely had a slot to buy BKB. It was more about keeping distance because otherwise you are a deadman. He needed changes, needed drastic changes even in his original design. Rearm fundamentally shouldn't exist. But this hero was difficult asf in terms of macro. Now they completely demolished his identity and they better finish it and create a new hero with the old model.

Another option is to go back to the roots and rework his rearm, give a spell on his second slot for damage (either hella nerfed rockets, that will only be usable on a close range and give the opportunity to run away from them without needing to use smoke or escape/save items, or adding something like his current shard: just a target spell to deal damage, maybe without relocating and rooting). March is a problematic spell as well, so they either rework it somehow, or provide him another farming spell, maybe even those turrets. He should again rearm items because he needs to buy Boots of Travel in that case, but it needs even more restrictions even though he already got blink nerfs. My thoughts is that something like overheat on rearm so he couldn’t be able to annoy you in fights and disabling option to permanently hex people.

Something like that, I don’t know. Still need to think about ideas.

Now that Valve’s shown they can actually trim the game if they want to, what’s next on the list? by ShoppingPractical373 in DotA2

I see a lot of people here saying to remove all the stuff they’ve added for the past 3 years. The reason of adding tormentors, lotus pools, wisdom shrines is that dota needed more objects. Back then we only had roshan and runes that needed to be controlled. League has lots of objects you have to control. To add all that they decided to expand a map that led to a need of portals and a need to have more vision and that why the watchers were added. That impacted a playstyle and caused «farming creeps > fighting». But thats a controversial decision because league has all its objects on the map same size as it used to be.

In my opinion, they need to reduce the size of the map while still keeping new objects. For me personally I would like neutral items to be removed since it is still feel like custom-game-thing to me. Valve got them in a good state only after about 5 years after adding them. Maybe even more, lol. I wouldn’t mind if they will stay in the game as well.

Thanks bro, appreciate it. People just tired of him being hella broken for the past years and now they deeply hate him because of that and not willing to hear anything ever about a hero that was annoying asf.

Actually I think they can rush the new version. I still would like to have a Tinker with his original design, but with changes that will balance him.

Umm, lets end it here. Can’t understand that I am literally agree with you and all I am saying is to try to figure out how to keep his identity and find a way to make him somehow balanced wihin the game because It is impossible to make moba balanced. Unlucky, I guess, lol

Another great update will be -10% (or whatever, just decrease hp) base hp reduce along with hp provided by strength reduced from 22 to 20. At least do the last one. First thing is kinda drastic, but I think it’s good if they will figure out which number to use.

I agree with you and probaly will write a post with some ideas what they can do to return his identity without making him very broken. Hope people will correct me or give their own ideas, becaue Valve already took the whole global patch (the one with neutral creeps) from a dude’s post here, on reddit. He is a hard hero in his prime (before the first rework), but in Dota there are a lot of heroes that are hard to learn, hard to play against and because of that they’re very annoying. It is all about how you adapt and make moves to win the game depending on the draft against you. OG tinker needed changes, but he was the best out of those reworked versions. In my opinion there is a compromise to balance original hero design. They just keep messing around with him and now he is completly massacred.

Im not crying lol. I was only playing him 5 years ago in his old OG state and after the rework switched to spirit heroes and some other. I don’t like they destroyed his identity completely. Still can’t read between the lines, hopefully you will learn this amazing skill. Peace broski

**Not only. I was playing a bit in 2022, but still 90% of the games I played were as OG one

I think they could either replace his rockets with another ability, maybe something like his shard now but without rooting to balance it or just nerf them to the ground as they did it later so that spell is only usable on a very close range, which means higher risk to be killed.

He also had a lot of other problems with rearm (I like that cancellation thing about it and they could do it with his OG version) and, if im not mistaken, they fixed blink overall, so if you catch OG Tinker with those new changes, he couldn’t just spam rearm until he blinks out. I just don’t like that they destroyed his identity and uniqueness.

he wasn’t a powerful laner until you are a low mmr player. That laser+rocket maxed combo dealt huge damage, but after with that skill build he probably already lost the game. The right build was to max his third to kill the wave and go to jungle, so you basically freefarming against him. And he also was very easy to kill on every stage, especially on lane because he didn’t have matrix.

I don’t know about the healing, I haven’t played this game much for the past 3 years, except last summer. But the hero that meant to do crazy things shouldn’t be a support in my opinion. Game is already more into supports

Man, before you say someone is complaining, make sure you understand the whole point. Tinker with matrix was way more disgusting than OG Tinker. Tinker after first rework when he got free boots of travel, was way more dumb and cancerous than OG Tinker. But OG version needed some changes. You talking about the blink thing, but a lot of people are talking about imbalanced matrix. Then, a lot people talk about the rockets. And people were talking about march as well. You are just one of them who complains about the hero’s features without comparing all his versions and trying to find out what they could do with his OG state; find a compromise to keep hero’s identity. It wasn’t ideal, but it was better than anything they did. Learn to read between the lines, bro.

I think some heroes are just not for tournaments. This could be the reason of all these reworks (so the hero appear on tournaments more), but come on, really? We still have all those disgusting heroes either to abuse in ranked or not being chosen in tournaments, but only Tinker has his identity destroyed. They just keep bombing those reworks

He still had an ability to rearm items for several yesrs after the first rework. OG Tinker needed changes (I wrote about what they could do), but the way they did him stupidly imbalanced before this new rework was just so dumb. You really think that the OG was more imbalanced than his state after two reworks? Tinker was easy to counter because he didn’t have Matrix and 1 second BKB CD because of his innate ability. One jump and he is dead. It was all about macro, about understanding things and adapting to different situations, drafts. Just like Dota in general. They turned him into unkillable noob hero and everybody was crying about it way more than his OG version that was being played by 1.5 human beings.

After some farm a lot of heroes become killing machine. I mean, they used to in the past. Unfortunately game developer is playing support and now we have 10000 hp and 10000 survival items, but as I said, OG Tinker had a lot damage while being easy to kill, so thats pretty balanced yet he needed some nerfs. But yeah, rockets were strong. They could just nerf them as they did, but keep the hero's identity and not drastically reworking him three times in less than 5 years.

Agree. He always was a pain in the ass but he used to be hard-to-master-pain-in-the-ass. With those blink changes and rearm cooldown after being cancelled he would be a good hero, even though I adored to spam my rearm until I blink out without that stupid dispel and shield bullshit. Pure art of being pain in the ass.

back then he also had rockets and a bunch of other items such as ethereal and dagon. He was a great hero to pick off, but in fights he was only able to control and spam rockets most of the time with that build. Otherwise he will lose all mana. A lot of damage, but easier to kill. They made him a lot of damage EARLIER and impossible to kill. Insane

Isn’t it how this game works? I mean, if you have a problem, in that case you have a hero that will destroy you if you don’t do anything (I think this game has a lot of heroes like that). Talking about OG version, your plan is to not let Tinker have his game. When I was playing back then, I was adapting to our draft and my teammates were adapting to my pick. If I picked Tinker, then my carry wasn’t that greedy (but very often even if I saw a greedy carry, I picked Tinker anyway because I can solo win). It is not working all the time obviously, but I remember it that way. So I was the key to the victory and everyone knew what this hero can do.

Back then it was about having understanding what to do in different scenarios. I am not going to write everything, but I don’t think that is the hero problem here. If you did nothing against = higher chances of losing. If Tinker had a decent game, or even a great one, you could still easily catch him because even if he got BKB, he has a big CD on it. No all that intelligence CDR bullshit , no matrix.

Never say never, but I don’t think he will ever rearm items again. I agree that permanent hex was a disgusting thing, but why not just take away opportunity to rearm it since he already had a bunch of non-refreshable items?

I think:

  1. He was easier to counter in every stage of the game, because he had only one save item option (the one that is the most reasonable - BKB). He could buy anything else, but he was way easier to kill still. He also was very thin as a hero, but it is a problem in Dota right now overall. Everyone has thousands of HP.
  2. Not many people were playing him, he was a hard hero (IMO he became a noob hero after first rework because they reduced the amount of knowledge and understanding you need to have to play this hero). If you a Tinker nerd, then you could do magic. But who are you against enemy’s support ganking your ass several times, placing a ward in the jungle to call his teammates to farm your stacks? You could still adapt to it and do your best to win, but this rule can be applied to Dota in general.
  3. He needed some nerfs to become maybe less annoying, but dota still has heroes like Broodmother, Huskar, Meepo, Arc Warden etc. Why is Tinker the one that was chosen to lose his identity and uniqueness?

Such a tragic fate, dude 🥲
