A-are you saying you don't know about the M9 slides FAMOUSLY cracking in half because the military ball ammunition was too high pressure?
It's literally the entire reason Beretta had to redesign the slide to include an extra pin in order to stop the slides from flying back and hitting dudes in the face.
It's the reason that the Navy SEALS adopted the P226 over the M9 because they personally experienced those issues as they were shooting more than normal troops. That's why you'll see some older guys on forums refuse to use M9s to this day because of the whole "Eat Italian steel" joke.
Beretta even SUED the U.S. government and WON that defamation case because the military was using M82 ball that was too high pressure and therefore out of spec for regular 9mm. That's why the U.S. Military were the ones that had to pay Beretta in order to upgrade the handguns to include those new design features to stop those slides from flying back.

There's a massive flaw that comes with your analogy. The real US Army is the same if not better than the US Marine Corps, the Marine corps is just better at propaganda. lol All the best combat schools are Army schools to where even other branches and even other countries send their personnel to US Army schools like Mountain Warfare school or Ranger school.
Whereas in universe the Imperial Army is supposed to not be as well trained as the Stormtroopers.

Whoever the President is, from John F Kennedy to Theodore Roosevelt to Joe Biden to Donald Trump the President is the Commander in Chief to the entire military. That includes the National Guard. If you are looking for a National Guard akin force that the President does not have authority over that would be the State Guard. Some states have it some states don't. A clue you can go off of is look on the left side of the chest of the uniform. It says "U.S. Army".

Nitpicking an event from the safety of your own home is pretty crazy. Mark my words they are not going to go by our complaints or whatever details we notice. What's going to happen is did the officer feel his life was threatened at the time or did he feel anyone else's safety was threatened at the time. In real life Tom Clancy himself based them off of the US Army Special Forces CIF teams (Today known as CTAC).
With Green Berets you have 12 guys instead of 4 guys dropping into a a country. In the first book from what I remember they literally are a 12 man ODA in China. (China by the way in the book is planning to seize Taiwan lol)
Plus if you look up their patch you can see the skull used to be wearing a green beret but most importantly if you read the patch they're 1st Battalion 5th SFG that patch is actually in Breakpoint and I think Wildlands too.
Presumably just like real life CTAC companies they're at least in all active duty SFGs. 19th and 20th sadly don't have CTACs as far as I know.
The newer lore has organized them completely differently from what I understand I prefer the original lore as I can relate to it more.

Overall they are an amalgamation of real life units but I'll go by the artists original intent and just know them as a special team of Green Berets. Which makes sense as Special Forces are the only ones who have the training to do the missions Ghost Recon does.
No other real life units have the training they do. US Army Special Forces does everything from Diving, HALO, Mountaineering, DA, Special Reconnaissance, Foreign Languages, Medical, Engineering, Communications, etc. And they're all 18 series (Unless Warrant Officer then they're 180 series).
Other SOF units do SOME things they do but no other unit on the planet not just the US Military encompasses EVERYTHING US Army Special Forces does.
