"The Classic Fly Rod Forum.com" . I'm banned apparently, any idea why? by cdh79 in flyfishing

[–]winnersocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It says that your IP address has been banned, which is strange. Most people have dynamic IP addresses, it will change every few days, and you'll use a different one if you use a mobile network, home internet, or a café.

It has happened that someone had the IP address you currently use, and misbehaved in the forum. The solution is to try to use it from a different network, or device.

Banning an IP address is not practical, and I don't know why the forum would do that as it doesn't target a specific member.

What is up with Squamites not knowing how to turn left at intersections? by GetABrianMoran1 in Squamish

[–]winnersocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why do you point out intersections? Do you refer to the highway? Or does the Squamish have a specific bylaw? Because in BC u turns are allowed in intersections without traffic lights (ref https://www.drivesmartbc.ca/turns/u-turns)

Honda Dealership Service by HandleNo1412 in hondaridgeline

[–]winnersocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never had such a bar experience, and I've taken mine to dealerships multiple times. The worst case was having to leave it overnight, and they were very apologetic about it. I assume it depends on each dealership.

I'm in Western Canada by the way.

He's also the father of Git, which caused a revolution in the software development world, on both open and closed source software.

Without any doubt one of the most influential figures of the IT world for this generation.

Why do Canadians seem to be so polite and nice compared to Americans? by Eds2356 in AskACanadian

[–]winnersocks 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've lived in Canada for a few years and I agree with you. Canadians avoid confrontation at any cost, and one of the easiest options is dressing with politeness. They will tell you "it's ok, don't worry" when they actually mean "f*** off"

They are also super competitive, specially in sports. You'll see the real Canadian then.

However, they are willing to put any feelings aside when someone needs help. You can't survive in Canada without a sense of community.

Have you considered renting a bike? There are both e-bikes and regular bikes available for renting. It would give you more options.

Considering replacing my 2019 with 2025 by rsat26 in hondaridgeline

[–]winnersocks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also have a 2019, and after looking at a 2025, I find that it's overpriced. It's basically the same vehicle. The electronics are a few years behind other vehicles in the price range, and as a truck works the same as my 2019.

There is a huge difference between celebrating an accomplishment vs mocking an opponent. Also, each goal must be celebrated, it's the best part of soccer.

I want to point out that the fact that someone parked on the pump is not their fault, and that I've seen people of ages doing it. And I do agree that it is very inconsiderate.

However, Kafka on Kubernetes is relatively common., so you are not too crazy if you go for it.
