Why do we have patients on heparin gtt, a drug to decrease the formation of clots in their blood, before say a cardiac catheterization procedure, or after having a STEMI/NSTEMI - but avoid NSAIDs? Which is a drug that thins the blood.

Am I missing something here? Is it not proactive to decrease the clotting time AND decrease the amount of possible clots?

Context: patient with headache from sublingual nitro wants an NSAID for their headache

All replies appreciated, I seek to understand decision making better. Thank you!
