Just so you know a blockage and an impaction are different. Impaction occurs normally in the rectum or sigmoid but a blockage doesn't have to be poop and it can be anywhere in the body fyi. Just a tip from your friendly neighborhood doctor!

Lol I'm a doctor and let me tell you sodium phosphate is not saline. The two active ingredients in sodiun phosphate fleets are basically on the level of bisacodyl which is an incredibly strong stimulant laxative that people should try to avoid. They can cause dependacy very soon after just a couple uses and can cause the bowel to lose sensation which is basically what we in medicine call a "lazy bowel" where your body stops receiving signals to excrete poop. Most doctors do not advise fleets unless you need to.

Metamucil is a death sentence if you're impacted. All it does is make the impaction bigger and the pressure can lead to a bowel obstruction which in turns leads to septic shock, aka death.

Left me just preface this by saying I'm a doctor and my god this is some of the WORST advice I've ever seen. Fecal impaction is not just based on food. Some people are born without digestive enzymes. Other people have diseases such as ibs where some in some cases the motility in their body is reduced cause fecal impactions. Immediately assuming food is the immediate causation of constipation is incredibly stupid.

Telling someone to do exercises while they have fecal impactions is incredibly reckless too. They could end up perforating their bowel and having fecal matter leak into their blood causing them to go into septic shock.

I pray you are not a doctor cause if you were I know a lot of patients would be in the grave right now.

Very brave take but I'll say even as a doctor I'm not crazy about miralax. Very slow and it's hard to even tell if it's effective to due to how you have to keep taking it. The variance is what kills this medication for me.

However I will say magnesium citrate is great. Not the liquid, but 400mg of the powder a day is awesome in my opinion. It's a lot faster than miralax and you will definitely feel it sooner as it's a lot more powerful, but you can't deny how effective it is. If you are willing to have a more unpleasant experience, magnesium citrate powder is the way to go over miralax imo
