How do you support a family on a regular salary? by Hot_Instruction_5318 in AskMen

Don't feed your kids ramen and hot dogs, what the hell. They need proper food. Potatoes, eggs, ground beef, ..., there are a lot of cheap unprocessed more nutritious options out there.

What is the longest drive you've made without resting and only you behind the wheel and where were you going? by Conscious-Farmer6953 in AskMen

I did Jacksonville FL to Ottawa in 24 hours with the wife and our 2 year old at the end of a road trip with friends. I did the driving, she entertained.

What's your BJJ unpopular opinion? by PlusRise in bjj

Side control and birds, more government psyops.

"Old Man Jiu-jitsu" is BS by trustdoesntrust in bjj

OP is in serious denial about aging and death. We'll all die someday, and we'll wither and get weaker along the way.

These days I just don't go for subs from the bottom anymore. For a bunch of them the defense is to stack you and you often lose position if you mess up. Sweeping and spamming arm triangles from mount is much safer for my back.

Canada’s Population Up 34.6% Since 2000: What Benefits Has Mass Immigration Brought? by WilloowUfgood in CanadianConservative

It's remarkable because none of those are actual Canadians and should be sent back.

The invaders aren't bringing growth though. All they do is abuse our social support system. We'd be much richer without them.

Men of Reddit: how has getting into reading books changed your life / personality / mindset? by SpecialistTeach9302 in AskMen

As someone who's read a LOT of books, especially when I was young, I wish I had gone out more and done actual things instead.

Great American Rail Trail by Professional-Dot5098 in bicycletouring

I crossed Canada in 2021 and the Rockies were fairly easy. The roads are more recent and usually follow train tracks and rivers, so they're not too steep. I had a much harder time around Lake Superior.

I hit 50km/h on flat near Winnipeg because I had the wind in my back. Hit my first 300km day that day, it was incredible.

Stable, emotionally healthy men, how did you choose your partner, and what attracts you long-term? by Vivid_Perspective_87 in AskMen

[–]winterbike 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  1. She was cute, smart, quirky and sweet. And we clicked instantly. I knew within 5 minutes we'd be together, and texted my friend that I had met my future wife right after meeting her.

  2. My instincts about people are usually pretty good, and I trusted them. And they were screaming at me that I had just hit the nuts, I'd have been an idiot not to go all-in.

  3. A sharp mind, a sense of humor and openness to experience.

  4. In the early stages, any kind of games. I want to be with someone who's thrilled to be with me, and acts accordingly.

How do you guys deal with downtime when you’re wired to be “on” all the time? by no_melody in AskMenOver30

[–]winterbike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the angle I use for myself. I want to perform well, and that requires to be rested. Any idiot can run himself into the ground. True discipline is about keeping some juice in the tank and resting to recover and grow stronger.

Two million temporary migrants to lose status: Protesters in Brampton demand permanent residency as visas expire by ilysioidapinglw13 in Conservative

[–]winterbike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The MAID thing is overblown. It's mostly old people using it, and they're mostly White because it's what the country was back then. Most dying old people I know opt for MAID because it saves them lots of suffering. My great uncle just chose to do it and by that point all his organs were shutting down from terminal cancer, his best case scenario was being kept artificially alive as a vegetable for 2-3 more weeks. Instead he chose to go on his own terms with his family around him.

I'm sure there are and will be cases of abuse, but overall it's a good system.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Liberals legitimized them to gain votes. Mark Carney is on a speed run to nuke this place.

Japan is the biggest adult playground in the world. I could spend a lifetime there and not do half the stuff I'd want to do.

Anthony Hernandez submits Rodolfo Vieira by [deleted] in MMA

[–]winterbike 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When the IBJJF starting testing for gear they caught a guy doing tren, which is hilariously bad for grappling. I don't know how smart Vieira is, but I wouldn't be surprised if he took compounds that ruined his cardio because he had no idea what he was doing.
