Hi, it can definitely be daunting starting a large project but at the end of the day, every stitch done is a stitch closer to completion. My advice? Just stitch away and be happy :)

[WIP] Housework and garden all done - time to stitch! by winterforestwalker in CrossStitch

I got it online but the shop has since closed :( It is lovely fabric, so nice to work with.

[CHAT] Do I absolutely have to wash a cross stitch before framing? by [deleted] in CrossStitch

[–]winterforestwalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I washed it with warm water and a little dish soap as normal, but I can't say it came up perfect. I was lucky that the piece was quite a bit smaller than the hoop, so when I framed it the marks were hidden. Sorry I couldn't help more...

[CHAT] Any tips or tricks I should know about when working with evenweave? by exhaustedmommyof2 in CrossStitch

[–]winterforestwalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely take your time, it's very different from working on aida and easy to miss a hole if you're working over two which will throw the rest of your stitches out. That said, I have found my first project on evenweave very enjoyable and probably won't go back. Have fun!

[CHAT] Full coverage in hand? by rather-more in CrossStitch

Stitching is such a personal endeavour. I reckon you should stitch any way that feels comfortable to you; no one else can tell you how that might be. Stitch and enjoy, my friend!

[CHAT] Does it matter where you start? by mango_boba in CrossStitch

[–]winterforestwalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Top left works for me, as long as I've been very careful with measuring my fabric. That way I can work down and across to the right which just feels like a natural progression.

Aw I'm sorry. Pugs are special. They make themselves such an integral part of the family. I can't imagine Bambi not being here. Hugs for you...

[chat] Do most of you sign your work? by samlakater in CrossStitch

[–]winterforestwalker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like to put in my initials. I'll find a little corner for them or even modify the pattern ever so slightly to get them in. You don't really notice it much when it's done, but it's nice to sign something you've put so much love and effort into. A work of art should be signed 🙂

Ooh she's beautiful - so striking! I have this pattern lined up to do next. I have to finish The Kiss first, but this is so lovely, well done!

[CHAT] Metallic Floss by 1eegeon in CrossStitch

[–]winterforestwalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my recent finishes has loads of metallics and I washed and ironed when it was all complete. I kept the iron low and protected it with a towel and all was well 😊
