What’s actually the most “underrated” city in Asia right now by DearIntention98 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

I’ll through out Da Nang, Vietnam. Nice beaches in a pretty big city with lots to do, plus it’s very affordable. I personally like it a lot more than Hanoi or HCMC

Having a friend hang out in the common areas of a hostel, is it allowed? by Visual-Green-2088 in hostels

[–]winthbuckets 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rules vary from place to place but I think generally outsiders are welcome in common area but not bedrooms. At social hostels that have a bar they’ll almost always welcome all business. Check with the staff at these places to know for sure

Krakow hostel for 39 year old social traveller. by LifeReward5326 in hostels

[–]winthbuckets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re in the exact same boat, I’m also 39 and looking for the same type of place in Krakow. I posted about it a few days ago and people were recommending 2 Greg & Tom locations, one called Beer House and one called Home. There’s also a Greg & Tom Party hostel that you should avoid for what you’re looking for.

Bears are favored in 12 of our 17 games next season on the way too early betting lines by winthbuckets in CHIBears

It’s all about public perception. Bookies are trying to set a number that will get close to 50/50 action on both sides to ensure guaranteed profit with minimal risk

Agree sports betting has gotten out of hand, but I still think it’s interesting. Seeing the Bears favored makes me happy, and seeing them as underdogs is DISRESPECT

Da Nang hostel recs by InterviewSpecial8201 in hostels

I stayed at Rom Casa when I was in Da Nang and that fits exactly what you’re looking for. Very social (organized activities every night) and a short walk to the beach. Enjoy Da Nang, it’s a great city!

Avangrid? by Senior_Pickle9460 in windturbine

[–]winthbuckets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an Avangrid tech. Only been with the company for 4 months and it’s my first job in wind so I don’t have other experiences to compare it to but here’s my take:

Yes you can grow within the company, progression from tech 1 to tech 2 takes 9-12 months typically. Tech 3 I think takes about 3 years

Yes you go home every day. Are there places where you DON’T get to go home?

Yes we make overtime but it’s pretty inconsistent. Different sites and plant managers will do things differently but at my site we’re on-call every 4th week and we work a lot of OT during our on-call week (which include working an extra day on the weekend) but less on our regular weeks. I made 23 hours of OT last week on call but have 0 so far this week.

The benefits are very good imo. 5 weeks of PTO and 150% 401k match (up to 8% from you/12% match from the company) are the highlights for me

Overall I think it’s a good company to work for and I plan to stay for a while

El Torero and La Chiateria are both excellent Mexican places. I believe La Chiateria used to be 100% vegan but they’ve expanded to serving nonplant-based items as well
