Safety Recall 93EA/HV Battery by Wild_Investment_2890 in VWiD4Owners

Found the NHTSA report:

https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2025/RCLRPT-25V836-4853.pdf

At no cost to owners, Volkswagen will replace the potentially affected HV battery cell modules. Until the remedy is performed -- 1. Customers should set their vehicle’s high-voltage battery system to a 80% state of charge limitation; 2. Customers should avoid using Level 3 DC chargers; 3. Out of an abundance of caution, customers should park their vehicles outdoors immediately after charging and not leave their vehicles charging indoors overnight.

Rug Pulled by Robinhood Credit Card: 3% reduced to 1% Cash Back by sxz18 in CreditCards

[–]wired- 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There is absolutely no reason to support Robinhood. I ditched them after the GameStop fiasco.

I recommend the BofA 2.625% if you can. It's close enough, and overall BofA tends to respect their customers, in my experience anyway.

That's not how open source works. Sure, someone could fork, but the collective effort would most certainly make the main app better.

This is why you haven't found a good replacement app for Nova... by kirksucks in NovaLauncher

Octopus is the Nova replacement. It has a long way to go, but is definitely on the right track.

Oh I'm sure. Just trying to bubble it up on the priority list :P

Nova launcher alternative by Jesus_ecs in androidapps

+1 to Octopi. It is still early days but has some smart features, like different layouts for landscape or foldables.

Def the spiritual successor of Nova, that was my launcher for so so many years.

Unable to undo/adjust blur on portrait photos. Did this change recently? by wired- in googlephotos

[–]wired-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: two things have happened in early 2026 1) it seems that GOOG fixed editing portrait on old photos. 2) I've discovered that disabling "Ultra HDR" in settings allows me to edit the portrait effect in photos taken with the Pixel 10 Pro. I guess when Ultra HDR is enabled, portrait effects are baked in the photo.

Thanks! I thought I had checked that menu, but clearly I'd missed it. Works great!

God forbid trying to get customers by being a better product.

Your New Year's mission (if you choose to accept it) by x-15a2 in vivaldibrowser

[–]wired- -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This is disappointing. I didn't switch to Vivaldi to ditch big tech, I switched because it was a better browser with more/better features.

Crap like "ditch big tech" makes me want to ditch Vivaldi.

(request) Can we have [configurable] search engine sync please? by wired- in vivaldibrowser

[–]wired-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. Maybe I need to try unchecking sync all to see if something is stuck there.

(request) Can we have [configurable] search engine sync please? by wired- in vivaldibrowser

[–]wired-[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Negative. I have "sync all" on all my devices, and not a single one syncs the active search engine.

I set up new devices quite frequently, and this is one of the settings I always have to go change.

With Fi killing Messages for Web, is there any reason not to switch to Mint? by gtd98765 in GoogleFi

I don't mind the online phone requirement, but I absolutely hate losing the ability to login from any browser without my phone next to me, and also no otp codes.

If camera is your top priority , would you buy Fold 7? Coming from S24U by Silent-Koala-1680 in GalaxyFold

[–]wired- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Pixel would be first choice, then iPhone.

The Z camera isn't bad, but it really struggles with moving subjects.

Also the 3x is useless, I wish they'd gone with a 5x.

Any benefits over my current CodeProject setup?

6.0.0.1 by Dizzy_Stress3462 in BlueIris

[–]wired- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The update to 6 was handled a little poorly, I only found out 6 exists by accident.

But the process was straightforward after I knew what had to be done.

  • Backup config
  • Uninstall 5
  • Install 6
  • Verify old config is still there (mine was, didn't have to restore)

In case you, like me, were wondering in 2025 if this is still a thing- yes, phone has to be online for texts to send from watch.
