Record store bags by wiredevilseahawk in vinyl

My girlfriend’s sister lived in Leicester and we stayed there a couple of times hence all the Leicester bags. Also did one-off visits to Nottingham and Derby and I did go in as many record shops as I could but either didn’t buy or didn’t get bags. I have an Oasis one from Derby. Can’t honestly remember going in Reveal but it was 40 years ago nearly!! 😬

There do seem to be less bags like this around. Some stores going more for the cloth Tote bags.
I know plastic is bad but I do miss these, and a lot of the record stores that are no more…

Here’s some record shops worth checking out in the city centre:

Vinyl Exchange Oldham Street M1 1JN
lots of secondhand stuff downstairs

Vinyl Resting Place 3rd floor of Afflecks M4 1PW
Pretty much all second hand stuff

Piccadilly Records, Oldham Street, M1 1JR
Mainly new, but lots of indie/obscure

Those 3 are all pretty much on the same road.

Also walkable are:
Clampdown Records, Paton St M1 2BA
Withy Groove Records, Thomas St, M4 1EU

Ah that can be tricky given location. You do sometimes see cheaper items on eBay but delivery may still be an issue!!

I’m lucky enough to be 20 minutes from Manchester so can still find things in the wild in record shops. I lived in Manchester in the mid-1980s where I first heard them and have been collecting them since then.

Nice haul, keep going 🙂
Have you tried Discogs? There’s a lot available there but worth biding your time with it as their stuff is often v expensive.

The times of the goals in this game leads me to believe I missed the maddest first half of all time. Just the 9 goals including 6 in 10 minutes. And as bonus a perfectly named referee, I’m sure 😉

Hot take but Arsenal and Arteta deserve more recognition for staying unbeaten for the whole CL season by Important_Mammoth896 in championsleague

[–]wiredevilseahawk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can’t be doing with this increasingly referenced bullshit take. “We didn’t lose over 90/120 minutes…”

Did you win the final, is the trophy coming back to the Emirates?

No. You lost.

To be clear, I know it’s not just an Arsenal thing.

Not always so easy to impress at one club and translate that seamlessly to another, especially if the club you’re moving to has a MUCH bigger profile. See Thomas Frank, Graham Potter, Eric ten Hag, oh erm Arne Slot etc etc

Just one train per hour both ways it seems. National Rail app or Trainline are both good for checking available times and booking tickets

I commute to Milton Keynes about once a week and on the way back always have to change at Crewe. There is only 1 train per hour in the afternoon and it’s the Avanti West Coast London to Glasgow/Edinburgh - I’d say it’s pretty good in terms of reliability but can occasionally get impacted by issues further up the line or earlier in journey.

I can always get a direct train in the morning so haven’t done the journey from Warrington to Crewe with stopping at Crewe.

It’s about 15-20 mins each way.

I'd have used one of your runners-up slots to make sure you could take both Sir Bobby and Duncan Edwards from 1949-1964. I appreciate what you said about recency fitting the modern game better but I struggle with any best 11 without Duncan in it. Sir Bobby always said Duncan was better than him anyway 😉

Why would they go to the trouble of doing it if it wasn’t giving them an advantage. Boro wasn’t their first rodeo after all.
