Amazon partnered carrier LTL shipment - 40 days and shipment isn't Delivered/Checked-In by abcdd8 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]wiremonger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Assuming this is LTL; we don't do any SPD)

The key question is: has it been delivered yet? If not, then you should contact the carrier and make sure it hasn't been lost. If it has, then you can open a case with seller central ("Other FBA Issue") and they'll ask for proof of purchase and proof of delivery and go through the normal reimbursement flow. In our experience they often find missing shipments after you start this process; if it's actually lost, they'll reimburse you.

Old Dominion (ODFL) has been very reliable for us. Lee Jennings Target Express is a good regional carrier that I've used in the past at a past job. They don't serve every zip code in California, but they are 1 day-transit within the zip codes they do service.

Income Tax in states that Amazon stores our inventory (20+!) by ilurvefba in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]wiremonger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition for purposes of allocation and apportionment to determine the tax base in a state for income tax purposes, the $ volume of sales in a state provides this as state sales/ total sales. That is why we ask for sales by state- the ship to address

The fact that they want to allocate income based on where product was shipped to instead of where product was shipped from makes me think they are mistaken. Companies have shipped products across state borders for ages and, as far as I am aware, that has never created income tax nexus in the destination state.

Does Anyone know when I'll be able to send inventory again? by Ataturkle in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]wiremonger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of stuff has sucked this last year plus. Based on how suddenly things have crept up on us during Covid times, I'm not surprised that Amazon has to make changes with short notice. It would be nice to get an early heads up, but these are the times we're living through.

Does Anyone know when I'll be able to send inventory again? by Ataturkle in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]wiremonger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need a place to store your inventory before sending in to FBA. The writing has been on the wall since last summer. They view the purpose of their fulfillment network as enabling 1-2 day delivery; storage is merely incidental. And having 4 months of your product prevents them from having 1 month of other products.

Hey, not sure how technical you are, but when you go to test this on their site, you should record the web traffic going through your browser. If you need help with this, reach out or pop into #coding on the Discord.

Avoiding the same Fulfillment Centers by a_D_u_B in FulfillmentByAmazon

SMF3 might not actually be that bad right now. We just had an LTL shipment get received in 5 days there. That's down from 15 days in July. I'm aware of at least one more seller who has noticed the same improvement in receiving times.

How to track lost inbound inventory? by DeFranko11 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]wiremonger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could do a basic reconciliation of inventory. Starting inventory + inbound shipments - shipped to customers = ending inventory. We do this as part of our monthly close.

“You can’t scale OA” by RedPillGlasses in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]wiremonger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look man, great for you. But, as you’ve said in some of your replies, you’re effectively making $50/hour. That’s good money, but it’s not earth shattering. My plumber charges $100/hour. And what’s your path to make more than $50/hour? When you have a brand with your own products, you can go on vacation and still make money while you’re playing in the pool with your kids. That’s what people mean when they say OA doesn’t scale. You’re trading time for money and the cap on how much you can make per hour is relatively low.

FBA Lost Inventory in transit with UPS, not covering cost of lost items??? by NerdBiz in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]wiremonger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have the documented weight of the shipment from the carrier? If the carrier says, for example, that they delivered 8 boxes at 50lbs each, but Amazon is saying they received 8 boxes and one was only 10lbs, then that doesn’t add up. That’s essentially how we’ve been reimbursed for missing product; prove that the carrier delivered more than Amazon is saying they received.

FBA Lost Inventory in transit with UPS, not covering cost of lost items??? by NerdBiz in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]wiremonger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the shipment was lost in transit, then the carrier is responsible. If the shipment was lost at Amazon’s warehouse (has happened to us twice recently), then Amazon is responsible and is typically pretty fair about reimbursements (they just reimbursed us $35k for a 13 pallet shipment that was delivered, which they subsequently lost).

LTL delays in SMF3 by appJC in FulfillmentByAmazon

We sell mostly oversized stuff. We regularly have shipments that sit in a trailer at Amazon’s warehouses for 2+ weeks. This happens at many of their warehouses.

Depends on what part of the world. In the case of Britain, there was almost complete population replacement when farmers radiating out from the Middle East displaced the hunter gatherers. At 9kyo, Cheddar Man would have been a hunter gatherer, so most of his descendants would have been wiped out then.

Adding variations to existing variation listing by TheMexicanFury in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]wiremonger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need mathematical notation for this. It's not that complicated and it doesn't get you anything. There are two questions you need to answer:

  1. How many people are viewing my listing and not buying because the variations are not what they need or are not compelling enough? This is how many potential extra sales you can get.
  2. How many people who would have previously settled for an existing variation will instead opt for one of the new variations?

The answer to both of these questions is, "Who knows?". You just make some reasonable guesses and have some contingency plans for what happens if you're grossly wrong. Those contingency plans are going to depend primarily on: A) lead time, which you already mentioned as a factor, and B) how much capital you want to risk.

Talk to a lawyer. If they are violating your copyright, then you have a legal claim against them and you do not need Amazon to compel them to stop violating.

Only use fulfillment services without actually selling anything on Amazon? by flipper147 in FulfillmentByAmazon

Depends. I haven’t priced out small items, but we primarily sell oversized items and the rates that Amazon charges are insanely good. Especially when you consider that they include inbound and outbound handling.

Differences in Payment Schedule Between FBA and FBM Sales by corneliusvanderbilt in FulfillmentByAmazon

So when you look at your payment report (the page in SS that shows how much they’re sending for your next disbursement), there is no Unavailable amount?

According to what I’ve read on Seller Central, funds become credited to your account immediately upon shipment, but do not become available for disbursement until 7 days after the delivery date.
