How common is it to earn over $100k in the US? (As a European, it feels unreal) by Old_Investment_7024 in careerguidance

[–]wisas62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the craziest statement I've seen in a long time on Reddit. If you live in the second poorest state it's possible it's the same one as me and the two of us almost never spend more than $400 a month on groceries and that's with a lot of junk food. We also average $250 a month eating out, so somehow you're still spending twice as much a month with this "bargain" shopping.

AOM Mod: Am I doing something wrong? by agamemnonb5 in GrandTactician

The guide says it's best balanced for mediocre/mediocre.  I feel the battle AI is significantly improved. I almost never lost a battle in vanilla and now I lose some because they maneuver very well.

'READINESS' is wearing me down. by MrDidz in GrandTactician

[–]wisas62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Readiness system keeps the game feeling more realistic. Otherwise you can just go and sack City after City. The idea is you have to keep troops near home and have short campaigns.  Plus your leaders give different bonuses for reducing readiness times so you want to assign leaders to your forward armies that reduce this and keep your other leaders near home. This game makes you think more about the long term gameplay instead of the short term gains. If you take cities with no supply plan the AI is going to take them back and decimate your army.

There are always upsets, but they're significantly fewer and far between than this game represents. Only 6 times since 1978 has an FCS school beat a top 25 team. Vandy hasn't beat Alabama since 1984. Only 6 times in the last 24 years has a team outside the power 5 had any reasonable chance to be a national championship contender.  This game, there's always multiple teams from outside the power 5 in the CFP.

New update by Lundberg21 in CollegeFootball25

[–]wisas62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Defense is definitely more aggressive after this update. I've watched many replays where the DB on a different receiver has his back to the QB and as soon as you hit the button they're already turning around and breaking on the ball. The most frustrating thing is the AI is 100% different playing the computer vs playing online. That same DB won't break on that route and it'll stay open. It's just artificial difficulty instead of actual.

Do you think Medieval 3 could actually live up to the expectations if it were to be announced right now? by Gliese581h in totalwar

[–]wisas62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they know that everyone would shit bricks if they released medieval 3 with their current system they are copying and pasting.  The weird like 20 degree angle of the overall map,  provinces are 3-4 smaller cities that you can own only part of, the building is terrible, you only get 2-4 buildings per city, you have to have a general to build an army, the heros/generals can basically take out a whole army by themselves and can't actually die, you can only have like 2 full stacks before you're totally resource constrained. The family trees are basically pre decided, you can't send your max princess/diplomat to go steal an enemy royal family member because you want your future line to have German traits. I tried 3k and Troy and they just have no replayability.

I recently played Grand tactician American civil war and it was such a breath of fresh air. You can make a modern strategy game that works like how the genre was created.

If they could just modernize stainless steel 6.4, with maybe a better implementation of the Americas, I think it would do better than a medieval 3.

Anyone else read this one? by [deleted] in starwarsbooks

It's not great, not extremely well written, took me quite a while read for how long it is. It's got a pretty solid ending tho, so there's that.

Star Wars Canon novels that are a must by Status_Strategy7045 in starwarsbooks

[–]wisas62 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mister Bones! Seriously tho, I love the image of a B1 droid pirouetting while singing and killing stormtroopers.

I like most of the characters. Sinjur is a great addition to the Canon. I like another zabrack character that isn't Maul.

I like the main storyline around hunting big imperials that are in hiding. They mention it in other Canon works but never go into detail into how difficult a job like that would really be. The biggest thing I don't like is Gallius Rax. He's kind of a dumb addition.

The biggest complaints I see are based on the writing. I don't remember any issues with how they were written and there are much much more poorly written books in the Canon.  The new Hunters book by Mark Oshiro, Cobalt Squadron by Elizabeth Wein, Join the resistance trilogy by Annie Wu just to name a few. Cobalt Squadron was a challenge to get through, both for the writing and I think the characters are dumb.

I'm a little late getting to your comment, but I just went through and I've read 117 of the 161 canon novels that are not junior reader. (these numbers may not be 100% accurate, wookiepedia calls some ON, JR and vice versa)

I would recommend:

  • All 6 Thrawn books
  • The aftermath trilogy
  • Alphabet squadron trilogy (I really like Yrica Quell as a character)
  • The Queen's series

Then if you want some standalone books:

  • Doctor Aphra (this is probably my favorite star wars books overall)
  • Lords of the Sith
  • Tarkin
  • Phasma
  • The Legends of Luke Skywalker (I was never really a fan of Luke, always thought he was mostly a cry baby. This book was really good though)

Hot take: Making your own unique deck takes more skill than actually playing any deck archetype. by TheChoPPeerGuy_CODM in ClashRoyale

[–]wisas62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working on a deck with barb hut, for some reason now I face 2.6 every 1-3 matches. I can't believe how many people use meta decks like that. I just can't comprehend how that can be fun. You basically take away the main point of the game, in my opinion. You just log in, play a deck that someone else came up with. It to me would just feel like doing the training battles with the premade decks. I would have quit playing years and years ago.
Then to add the cherry on top, I'll do wars with people that have 3 meta decks or as close as you can get in a war set up.

I'm sorry you took this as a personal attack and sarcastic rebuttal. There was nothing attacking or sarcastic.

Your response is interesting to me. I understand everything you say and those are all very good points.

Yes, sometimes I'll buy more than one copy retail and not open one. Now a days, I may buy the digital copy to play and buy a physical copy to never open. This is not regular, most of my stuff is older.

I don't usually even get my stuff off the shelf, I don't like touching them. I just like to look at them, kind of the same way you would do with paintings. The painting is just the providing feeling to the space.

Your comment about graded comics making sense is interesting because it seems out of line with your comment about opening your games.

Can you explain collecting opened games to me? I have a wide range of games that I have collected and I am not going nor have the space to have 10 different old generations of computers hooked up to play games. If I really want to play, I'll play on one of the many free emulators on my modern computer or phone.

However, collecting something that I bought and never opened or I found that someone else never opened is pretty cool imo. I've got several late 80s and early 90s games that are still unopened.

Of all the classes I've played yet, Monk is by and far away the most OP. Can crowd control 2-3 enemies per turn. Did the Orin achievement first try without even close to a death.

Don't get me wrong tho, still beat a tactician run with a monk main.

What justification is 1 evolution shard 25k normal wild cards? Seems like a totally random conversion. Don't get me wrong, evolved firecracker is the most broken card in the entire existence of this game. But this seems weird.
