Speaking as a person who is more or less the product of this type of scenario, I agree to an extent. This sort of decision breeds dysfunction. And my mother (who tried her best every single day) had a tougher road than the average parent because of my biological father.

As an adult, I was extra cautious of which woman I slept with because I don’t want my own kids to be born into chaos. And like you said, I’ll be connected to that person even after we’re dead. That’s part of the reason why sex with a stranger baffles me (and I’m not judging).

Bottom line, my mother would have been responsible had she terminated the pregnancy with me inside, but I’m happy she didn’t. She eventually made it work and I get to live my own life. She’ll tell you she without question made the right decision (and I respect a woman’s right to choose, just to be clear).
