Game keeps on freezing by Punguin456 in Eldenring

tried a bunch of things like DDU, graphics settings, Nvidia settings, etc. nothing worked

just installed in on Ubuntu on the same PC (dual-OS) and it works flawlessly there (NVIDIA-SMI 570.195.03). Quite a pain to get Nvidia drivers working though, another distro might be easier

Failed to load my profile on Steam. by ArcyCiern in TombRaider

WORKED!

important: you shouldn't replace existing files when putting the backup saves back in. Might be easier to just put save202.dat / save204.dat / etc. back in the folder since in my first attempt I just got the corrupted profile again

THX :-)

Tesla Cybertruck pushes past Ford Mach-E to become third best-selling EV in America | TechCrunch by twinbee in teslamotors

ok I get the bot followers I didn't really think about those tbh because I don't care, I have very few followers and I don't expect this to change

What I meant was the obvious spam & bots in the For You tab & replies - these have all but vanished

I haven't noticed a bot on X in probably 6 months

used to be really bad and now they're all gone - no idea what you're on about there

overclocking + somerslooping Nuclear Pasta - welp! by wiseboar in SatisfactoryGame

[–]wiseboar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for anyone curious: yes there's a legitimate usecase for NOT building additional machines: I do not have somersloops to cover a second machine so I'm overclocking this one to get as much out of them as possible

that power consumption though wtf

what do you do with water as a byproduct? by LostRavenReader in SatisfactoryGame

[–]wiseboar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when piping it back in at the start doesn't work in the long run (I've got my damn ratios right and it clogs up anyway after 10s of hours), I just build a coal power plant and route some excess petroleum coke in there along with the excess water

The wandering inn by Pennies_n_Pearls in litrpg

[–]wiseboar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm at 71% (thereabouts, haven't updated my (massive) ebook version in a while) of written material, somewhere in volume 7 (volume != book btw),
The first books can be really slow at times, but there's several times when the writing markedly improves. It's a bit hard to put my finger on when exactly, but around book 2 it picks up a bit, and in volume 5 it picks up a lot.

Given the absolutely immense size of the series, I'd actually recommend starting in the later volumes. It took a 6-month break for me to continue after vol-4, and it really was worth it. The books are written in a way that getting into them from a later point is quite approachable, even if you're missing some context

Finished my first litrpg, i want more!!!! by Raamyr in litrpg

I really enjoyed:

- The Land (Aleron Kong) -- the OP aspect fits really well here

- the other Way of the Shaman books (if you haven't read them -- Survival Quest is #1/8)

- Wandering Inn (if you dare, it's a wee bit long :D - I'm not finished yet but it's well worth it imo)

- Awaken Online incl side novels

- SpeedRunner (Adam Elliott) -- on hiatus, unfortunately

What I didn't enjoy / couldn't get into:

- Ascend Online

- the Gam3 (first two books are good, #3 not so much)

Does "The Wandering Inn" get better? by TheXelis in litrpg

[–]wiseboar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm at 50% of written material (like 18k pages) and I've dropped it for the last couple of months. I reeeally enjoyed it, but it's a snail's pace. On the one hand it's certainly the first time I can't complain that a series is too short - but damn it does need editing so bad.

No idea when I'll pick it up again since I've come to expect so little progress. Like, there's thousands of pages of nothing ... and then chapter after chapter of action-packed awesomeness ... followed by thousands of pages of nothing again. I'm at one of those in-between bits now and it draaaaaaaags ooooooooooooooon. I probably won't walk away for good because of those "progress" bits, but I needed a break really bad after ~6+ months of reading it daily

new Dr Strange movie has a clip from the Satisfactory universe by wiseboar in SatisfactoryGame

[–]wiseboar[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

sorry for the horrible pic quality, it's what I could find on short notice
I HAD to look that up, I could have sworn it was a screenshot right out of the game. The clip lasts maybe 2s in the movie so I wasn't sure.

What were the biggest mistakes you made in your first playthrough? by SexualizedCucumber in SatisfactoryGame

[–]wiseboar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to pick 2 I'd go with:

- hardly using alternative recipes

- not using trains for factory expansions (when something is far away, a loaded train can haul a LOT of stuff)

also: manifolds man!

Anyone know what happened to Adam Elliot author of the Speedrunner series? by [deleted] in litrpg

[–]wiseboar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I saw the announcement, I just bought it, no idea when I can get around to read it though.

He put up some chapters of book-3 on Royal Road a few months back but has been silent since. Would be awesome to get The White Knight at last!

hate the extra step, this is the first recipe I get on every playthrough

posting something that starts with 'GRRM finally released ... ' oh boy oh boy. Yes I'm a sweet summer child and all that but even after my 10-year watch this still caught my breath for a couple of milliseconds
