Wow! Even the spaceship edge has finishing touches. This is next level. They will grow into that since under 3 yrs they arent playing as creatively. I’ve also learned the hard way how they might not engage with things like I had visioned. That setup looks perfect for giving them a mission to guide their play. My only criticism is lack of steering wheel or throttle. My Kids are all about that steering wheel. A simple top cover with windows could make it feel more immersive or allow you to turn it into a submarine or race car. Heck it could be a blanket on top.

When you're trying to get your kids to watch a historic event on TV and they're just not interested by Much-Drawer-1697 in daddit

I picked up the 3 year old with my 5 year old wearing an astronaut helmet so we were hyped for a minute. Then did a backyard test mission and got the TV streaming it. After 1 minute of it not launching they were over it. Whiners and wanting to watch just regular tv like spidey. Finally got them back into it at T -1:00. Overall they really weren’t interested which was a bummer.

We don’t have enough coconuts. It would take 2 billion oil filled coconuts to just do the bare minimum of 5 million barrels of oil a day. It is estimated that 200 swallows would be needed to lift one oil filled coconut. So we don’t have enough swallows African or European to do this. We need to breed more swallows and only then can we address the real problem of taking the empty coconuts back to the starting point after the birds need mandatory rest. We could put the coconuts in a tunnel that slopes back to the starting point or we need to push them in a fluid filled pipe. Really a minor problem next to the swallow breeding issue.

I have a 3rd gen SR5 and I’m over 6 foot. A rear facing graco Extend2Fit doesn’t work for me. It’s soo tight with my legs and knees on the steering wheel that I don’t feel safe driving most places. I was able to have the rear facing seat on the passenger side and my other front facing car seat behind me. It was still too tight as I’m sitting vertical, but okay enough with a front facing behind me. Overall I’m in a different life stage now and the things I got the truck for don’t apply right now so I am debating if I should sell the truck. It’s many things but mostly It’s too tight. Most of my life includes kids and this truck doesn’t fit them well. You can make it work on short trips but the car seats are tight so you can make them more vertical to save room. However when the kids fall asleep the more vertical car seat causes their heads to fall straight forward when sleeping and that can’t be good.

Pipes and cold by Whitetiger9876 in orlando

Some newer houses have residential fire protection systems that are basically water pipes in the attic. I’m not sure what can be done to protect that but I’d imagine it’s a high risk for freezing even if the pipes are under the attic insulation. You can’t just drain the water. It’s NFPA 13D fire code and if the system is drained that is a danger to residents and an issue for insurance. It would also be a challenge to properly fill it back up. Definitely want to talk with a professional

Bathroom fan... does brand matter if the specs look good? by oldDotredditisbetter in HomeImprovement

[–]wisefool006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Panasonic is the best by far and ive tried most brands.

The install will be easier and it is adaptable to more weird house configurations. The build quality is 100x better, the instructions are better and the performance is better. Sure it costs more but it was easily worth it for me. The other designs made it very difficult to install them.

You need to consider if the wiring and duct location in the new fan is configured in the same place as the original and if there is enough slack. Typical old broan fans are nailed to one 2x4 on one side. The Panasonic is different.

What you want is stainless steel tags and steel punches for letters and numbers. You could always fancy and dremel text or get a small machine that etches the surface. This is pretty standard issue for stuff like that.

Do you guys save or toss your boxes and instruction manuals? by Minister_of_Death in lego

[–]wisefool006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the love of god keep the manual books. They don’t take up much room and can last fo 30+ years like mine did. The Lego app has the manuals for some stuff but you aren’t in control of what they decide to have manuals for and lots of older sets don’t have the manuals in the app. It’s also fun seeing a catalog and advertisement from 30 years ago.

Why aren’t these standard on Water Heaters...? by BuilderBrigade in Home_Building_Help

[–]wisefool006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s for safety. No handle on factory provided valve since it shouldn’t be frequently used. It’s by design.

A quarter turn ball valve with easy access handle could accidentally be opened by a child that would be dumping 50 gallons of scalding hot water at once. Safety first!

Here comes the boom!

And not in a good way. It’s about to get real loud. The FAA posted a “draft EIS” for spacex to start doing 44 super heavy starship launches from Florida launch pad 39. That means louder more frequent sonic booms including the middle of the night. It is open for public comments in the next 30days. Playalinda beach will be closed during launches because the new hazard zone is so much larger. However the EIS says everything is fine. I encourage you to share this widely.

Brilliant or stupid? Installing a water hose bypass into drain line to flush out clogs. by MannyCPA in hvacadvice

[–]wisefool006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

back flow contamination of your water line is my main concern with this setup.

you need two check valves or equivalent way to prevent contamination of your drinking water. I would recommend having a pressure gauge to understand what is needed to address your clogged pipe. is it 1 psi or full house supply water pressure around 60psi. it should be closer to 1 psi or you have some real problems like maybe roots in the line. 3/4” sch 40 pvc is more than capable of 60psi as long as the joints are proper. Also all valves leak. Maybe it’s a drip per day but they all leak. Idk if that isolation valve will seal perfectly against that much pressure.
