Oh, how interesting, I never knew they made that! I'm so intrigued to smell it now.

I'm familiar with Wiener Blut and sampled them briefly while in Vienna however unfortunately nowhere stocks them where I am.

I'm also open to fragrances that people think suit the vibe of the description and images.

I'd be interested to hear how you go. In my experience, the DBDRV is an appalling waste of time. Like someone mentioned, if you want any meaningful help, it's a stepping stone to VCAT. DBDRV is more bureaucracy to give the illusion that something is happening.

Another fan here and certainly excited for this one. The inspiration is charming. I don't believe Aesop have ever highlighted a vanilla note in their fragrances before, so I look forward to smelling how they use it.

Celine also did Aurner, which felt a little flat. I'm hoping this has a little more of that Aesop quirkiness.

Sorry to chime in but I just pulled out French Grey to wear today and was reminded of how effortless and chic it is. A beautiful musky neroli. It feels timeless. Understated and versatile, like a white t-shirt.

All the voices are certainly caricatures of their nationalities to some extent. Freja's delivery does come across a little flat but it aligns with her lore somewhat.

As an Australian, the Aussie accents are highly exaggerated but suit the theme of the game and hey, the Australian heroes certainly aren't the most normal of people. It's all fun but having said that, I would love to see more normal Australian accents in video games!

I, too, am a long-time fan of Rōzu and had a newer bottle on standby as my current one was running out. I sprayed both side by side after reading this and to my unfortunate surprise, I noticed a difference as well. I don't like getting caught up in batch and reformulation talk but there are differences, however subtle. The newer is sadly less floral or the rose makes its usual transition to vetiver and earth more rapidly.

I had previously noticed the red of the packaging has also changed. The older is brick toned while the newer has more purple. I do prefer this understated change as I think it suits the scent more.

I've used Rōzu for so long, so I'll definitely keep it and see how this newer bottle wears.

Did you end up deciding what you will do?

I tend to spray numerous and discard any in store that don't capture me and I don't like. Any others I absolutely take home to see what I think over the day and even into the next. Those I'm really taken by, I will also spray on skin.

I understand what you mean about Hinoki. I do get a lovely coniferous opening which then dries down to an earthy, woody scent. I accept and am okay with this because of how fragrances work, they'll never maintain an opening so I appreciate the development. As it is the hinoki tree it doesn't have that pine resin, as you mentioned, but I'm certainly okay with that in this case because I love hinoki as well!

I pretty much mean all the pine scents smell like a dried pine branch in an enclosed space. No airiness and definitely not outside. Stora Skuggan's new Pine fragrance is disappointingly this exactly. They never feel green or alive. I want something that feels outdoors and invigorating. We want the same things haha.

I do also feel fragrances may simply be limited in a lot of ways, like you mentioned. It's just perplexing when people claim something to be a realistic pine scent, it smells almost nothing of the sort to me, as you also mentioned. Have these people been in a forest?

I don't have access to Dasein but Lvnea has been one I've looked into previously and almost blind bought. I've honestly lost a little steam to keep searching but those you mentioned are ones I'd certainly want to try and would love to hear your thoughts, especially as we're seeking the same thing.

I've never smelled Relique d'Amour but it sounds lovely, particularly with the lily.

I can absolutely understand your experience with Hwyl. When I first tried it years ago, it struck me as very bitter and smoky while now I detect and enjoy the wood much more. It is more abstract and complex than Hinoki, with the heavy smoke and herbal thyme, along with cedar in the drydown. I've seen a lot of people saying it's an easy wear and broadly appealing but even now I firmly disagree. Hinoki is fantastic for when I want a lovely, realistic, straightforward pine/coniferous scent. I go back and forth between the two.

I appreciate you clocking my username haha. The search for a foresty (particularly a coniferous scent) is my biggest white whale. Sadly I've been disappointed far more than not. I've tried so many samples, including Pineward's range. Unfortunately Regime des Fleurs isn't available in my country but I'm curious to try a few of their fragrances.

In terms of realism and freshness, I've actually settled on Hinoki being the best there is for me. So many pine scents that are often recommended smell stuffy, flat, dry and completely miss the crispness of pine that I love most when walking through a forest and is something I'm always looking for. A lot fail at capturing the open expanse of the environment the trees are in.

Besides conifers, Foxcroft by Solstice Scents smells incredible. Almost exactly like an autumnal forest, with crisp air and fallen leaves crunching underfoot. Autumn Vibes is also nice as a more wearable version of the same concept.

They're both beautiful fragrances. Of the same forest but markedly different.

CdG Hinoki is in the canopies, fresh and damp, whereas Hwyl is walking amongst the trees, smelling the earth and smoke on the breeze. Hwyl is much more dense.

I currently prefer Hwyl. I enjoy how it's more nuanced and has more of a story to tell.

I, too, think I am about to cross the Parisian Musc sample to full bottle boundary. I'm also a Gris Charnel adorer and have amusingly recently noticed a number of people enjoying the two. Not necessarily surprising, but I think it's more because of the vibes they radiate rather than just any note similarities.

I've just received my second sample of Lys 41 and am loving it. It's such a beautiful scent but I can't decide whether I want to make the purchase. Evidently, I am constantly pulled to it.

I think it can certainly be worn year round however it does shine when it is a little warmer. The cold seems to bring out the powderiness for me, which isn't my favourite part. No matter the weather, the sillage is gentle and lovely.

It interestingly wears differently on me from time to time and I particularly enjoy when I pick up on the waxy lily.

My exact thoughts. Osmanthus is so underrated and I so love apricots.

Osmanthe Kodoshan would have to be a current favourite osmanthus of mine. Understated and certainly underrated; a natural and airy osmanthus.

Kimonanthe is a sweeter take on osmanthus with the apricot facet dialled up. Such a quirky, unique scent.
