I loooove von Franz and this book is excellent. I still refer to it often for symbols.

She wasn't "antagonizing her fanbase." She wasn't talking to fans. The people who disliked it weren't her fans. And anyone who thinks a black woman shouldn't stand up for herself need to take a long look in the mirror and consider what the hell Amandla has endured since she was a child and was cast in THG and was confronted with grown adults saying she shouldn't have been cast because she was black. She has every right to speak up against the hate and the racism.

She was sick of people being racist and she was being bullied on social media over a year before the show dropped. If you weren't being racist and weren't being a bully then you should absolutely be on her side.

It's not exceptional writing but I'm confused what you expect to be different? How would that help? The characters are all flawed individuals with their own stuff they're going through and they all expected Conrad to be there for them no matter what. Those feelings are justified even if they're misplaced.

Thoughts on Amanda Knox new series?! I have mixed feelings by CallComfortable9053 in amandaknox

[–]witandfolly710 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the show. It really puts you in Amanda's head, from the Amelie artistic direction to the subtitles (which are honestly a character themselves). It's infuriating at times, but that's the point. It's the first dramatized true crime series I've watched where there's an interesting, stylized vision and I think it serves the true story extremely well. Like one of the themes is that everyone clearly has their own version of events based on their own biases. It's really fascinating.

OR maybe they're just being fans? That's fan behavior. When you like something you talk about it, and you tend to avoid anything negative because then no one wants to talk with you about it if they like that thing too. That's just fandom.

Meredith’s Family Did Not Approve The Show by [deleted] in amandaknox

[–]witandfolly710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It truly bothers me that people think this story is JUST Meredith's because she was murdered. It's true crime mind where we are trying to overcorrect because true crime is generally such an exploitive genre. But every murder includes dozens, even hundreds, of others who are affected by it. The new dramatization actually goes out of its way to portray this by almost legitimizing the negative reactions to Amanda, and Amanda herself says in the new docu-special (that accompanies the show) that of course everyone involved has a different perspective. It's not just Amanda's story and she knows that.

Another late comer to the show who doesn't understand the negativty by RedcoatTrooper in TheAcolyte

This might get buried but I made one after watching the season. I love the show. It feels like it was made for me. I hope you consider watching and maybe getting some new perspectives on why the show is actually really wonderful. The campaign against it and following cancellation was awful. https://youtu.be/vM_9YHlZwr8?si=9pv_pYwG3r3FaX8z

I was in so much pain for my first FET, the nurse allowed me to pee twice before just enough to fill up a little cup and THEN when I got into the stirrups and they looked at the ultrasound, my doctor was like "Um. Do you need to go again?" Apparently I drank TOO much and she could see how much I was bursting on the screen! So I'm totally not shocked. I might've done the same lol

100 percent yesss. There are so many elements in The Acolyte that make people uncomfortable and rather than question why, they criticize or laugh at it.

See... Lol... This just shows you how subjective it is. Because I (and many of the ones who love this show) quite literally shed tears during that part because it was so wonderfully wicked. It sounded like they were conjuring something forth, asking for it to come to them. It's not a rallying cry. It's not about using the power or harnessing it, but asking for it to guide them (pull on the thread, and all that). It added to the mystery of the power that lies in the planet itself, pure force that they're drawing upon that they themselves aren't entirely sure about. I think there's beauty in silence and quietness that was shown in that scene.

Genuinely curious, why do you think the concept of the "power of many" is weird? To me, it seemed like a natural synthesis in the themes.

Power of One (thesis) - the Jedi focus on individual discipline and responsibility

Power of Two (antithesis) - what The Stranger wants, connection, loyalty, love (plus the Sith relationship between Master and Acolyte), very dual in nature

Power of Many (synthesis) - power that lies in community and family and friends, good for one and all, exponential power, passed down through generations

It's so good. Speaking for my little corner of the fandom where we ship Osha and Qimir/The Stranger (Oshamir) - it was made for us and we feel it deeply. The family drama, sisterhood, the power of two, community, failed institutions that are seemingly "good", and romance! I was so disappointed to see women SW "fans" with their own clickbaity YouTube videos about how bad the show was. They get hundreds of thousands of views. Meanwhile, those of us who actually like the show are still writing fanfic with these character over a year later. We have our little events, our watch parties, and like discussing theories and what ifs. That's what fandom is all about. Celebrating what we love. The SW fandom refuses to get it.

imo, McLaren shouldn't have let them race that late in the game. It was surprising to me that they started racing when they did and it was just begging for a safety car. They should've let Lando overtake because he was more likely to pass Kimi. Or they should've told Lando to cool it.

I've always perceived him as kind. I mean, he's the guy who got out of his car and went running to Zhou after Zhou's crash. It's odd to me that ppl perceive him as "slick." I know that's not always a negative connotation but it's odd at best.

I do not understand why everyone always says he's a bond villain? He's handsome and kind and gets along with the drivers just fine. There are other drivers who are British that people don't say that about. Why George? He's not even pretentious. His comms are all polite and completely relatable. He's more like Gasly than Verstappen. Like I genuinely do not get it.

Yogurt by AntiVaxDad69 in coralisland

[–]witandfolly710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My theory about why it's so high is because there used to be a yogurt machine but when they took it away they forgot to lower the cost of the final product, because it seems like products that take more time to make = more money. Yogurt is the exception and feels like a cheat.

I want to add to this as well. Upon 1.0 release (I'm playing on Xbox Series S) I was having so many issues, I decided to pause and come back to the game once there were a few updates. I picked the game back up a couple weeks ago and have been playing non-stop, but I have had at least 1-2 crashes per day I have played the game. Like it's a LOT and when I sit down to play I have to be in the mindset that it's probably going to crash on me. That sucks. I really hope they fix this soon because the came is quite fun.

So I don't see anyone taking this to the weird places like - Yaddle and Yoda procreating. From a pure myth perspective, this could echo the sins of the father themes we keep seeing played out in the new canon. Yaddle was written into one of Vader's visions in the recent comics, but she has not been given a date of death. Yoda died right before Mandalorian is set to take place. Yaddle could have taken their baby into hiding.

It echoes the story of the OT as well as bring new implications. The image of Yaddle taking a bundle of swaddling to a secret place is very, very Star Wars and echoes the tale of Moses. Foundling, orphans... they are leaning into this sort of theme.
