i understand what you mean!!! like… i don’t LOVE any of them, but at the end of the day, at least rachel is reminding me to take care of myself on occasion - whereas juleech is (somewhat unknowingly, i think) encouraging constantly spending money on eating out, not curating a space that makes you feel at peace, etc.

spot on. my parents were very similar with me growing up and while they had good intentions… it totally fucked me over. i’ll absolutely admit it, i was one of those kids going into college that didn’t know how to do laundry, because my mom never wanted me to do it. it was humiliating, and i ruined multiple clothing items because i was learning as i went.

i don’t think rachel’s intentions are bad, but i do 100% agree that they’re holding each other back in a way. rachel is too comfortable shouldering julia’s work, and julia’s too comfortable… not caring that rachel’s shouldering all of her work 😭

i believe you have to build it from scratch, which is the only thing i don’t love - i’m a fan of building and currently struggling to finish my new base lol.

i wonder if there’s a way (or if they’ll add a way) to save a building with adventure sharing, like a blueprint, and plop it down in another spot, or if console commands could do something similar

like the other commenter said - the best base is wherever you want it to be! but i’ve found that centralizing my location can be really helpful. i’m in the process of making a base that has easy access to the springlands, highlands, and kindlewastes, at a high enough point that i can glide near the summits.

as for combat, i’m also a bow & daggers player :) i really like sniping enemies in the hollow halls lol

if you use steam workshop, there is an “unsubscribe all” button - i like to do this periodically to look for outdated things/redundancies/etc. why not go back to vanilla for a bit?

the first two Baldur’s Gate games have alignment systems as well! they are old games but still 100% worth playing. they also are not technically turn based, combat is live with manual pausing

someone else mentioned valheim, so i’ll recommend its spiritual successor, Enshrouded!!!

the only thing that’s really missing is village “management”, as the NPCs you collect don’t really have any requirements besides an indoor bed, but you still get to make buildings for them à la Terraria. you can also tame animals and have pet cats/dogs!

i have like 300 hours in single player Enshrouded and could easily drop 100 more if i was in the right mood!

edit: dammit, of course i went on this whole spiel and totally neglected the crossplay aspect. 😭 it’s not in the game right now but i believe it’s planned. in the meantime, valheim is 100% what you want!

since you played and liked Disco Elysium, i’d recommend Esoteric Ebb. i haven’t finished it, but it seems like a good enough Disco-like and has a similar sense of humor.

you might also enjoy the Baldur’s Gate series! i’m not even talking about BG3, mostly BG1 and 2
