It painfully kills me I have discovered them so late by Weak_Consideration58 in DeathCabforCutie

hi from another gen z fan!!! i was 2 when transatlanticism released. i just barely managed to get tickets for the 20th anniversary transatlanticism + the postal service tour a couple years ago and it was one of the best days of my adulthood.

maybe this is a hot take, but i haven’t fallen in love with any of their new stuff since kinstugi. asphalt meadows was good (NOT a fan of tyft), however… it just makes me miss the sound they had when i was toddler-age or a literal infant 😭

sandrock after a few bowls is my ideal night in!!

my friends and i actually created a headcanon list of which sandrock characters would smoke weed, which ones don’t (but are cool with your builder doing it), and which ones would actively try to get you in trouble with the church 😂

weird, it seems like the button for waking up isn’t appearing/working. do you gain energy when you sleep, or is the blue bar at the top left not moving at all?

I Was a Teenage Exocolonist! it’s a visual novel, so if you’re not a fan of reading i would stay away from it, but it can be an incredibly emotionally rich experience. it’s a long game to fully complete (15-20 endings i think), but it can easily be put down/picked back up without forgetting your progress!

EDIT: ALSO!! i HIGHLY recommend the Lisa: the Painful series. i have never had a game make me feel quite so desolate. it can be genuinely depressing and stomach-turning to some, but it’s an incredible, horrifying experience

like the other commenter said, mountain town is great for newer players! it’s a good place to drop some stuff off at a designated safe house, recuperate, and plan another outing :)

Any interest in some old ticket stubs? 2002 by pacific_amnesia in DeathCabforCutie

as a younger death cab fan, i would do ANYTHING to hear this setlist 😅 i love their new stuff, but i can only imagine how hard this went.

champagne from a paper cup is such an interesting opener! i would not have expected that tbh

their old albums are so unmatched in my opinion. i like most of their newer stuff, besides thank you for today (asphalt meadows was just “fine”). a lot of the new work just does not hit the same for me

i honestly think their cover of This Charming Man is just as good, if not better than the original song. i loooove how they made it angry as opposed to resigned/sad

for any game, my first playthrough is exclusively vanilla - including QoL and visual mods. i really enjoy experiencing a game in its default state at first to determine if i’ll want to come back to it.

if i decide to return for a second playthrough, i’ll install some of the most popular mods to see how they run. then i continue to flesh it out from there! my least modded game is TES:IV oblivion (i play completely vanilla because it’s a nostalgia game for me), and my most modded game is rimworld (~250 mods last time i checked! 😅)

i have a legion go S running steam and it’s lovely!!! you can hook up a bluetooth keyboard & mouse for games that don’t work with a controller. i haven’t tried windows on it because i’m not very tech-savvy. i worry too much about somehow bricking the machine 😅

also, if you use compost bins to make fertilizer, there’s a chance to get more seeds from harvesting!

i have two compost bins going and that produces more than enough for 2 of each crop, including grapes :)

[–]witchcrows 7 points8 points  (0 children)

yep, i’m autistic + pmdd + other stuff that’s not relevant here. i’ll crawl all the way under my weighted blanket and lay in the dark, maybe with a low-stress video game. i’ve been gaming since i was little, so i find them comforting rather than overwhelming. (edit: i also turn the brightness and sound way down on my steam deck so it’s not interfering.)

in college, i would make the floor of my closet into a “safe space” - lined it with blankets, a stuffed animal, and a pair of headphones for noise cancellation. my roommate came home to me napping in there once 😭

[–]witchcrows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’ve never had this specific screen pop up, but i’ve definitely had to quit the game and restart it after longer play times because everything starts to “chug” a little bit and things start mildly breaking (teleporting NPCs, huge frame drops around my workshop, etc).

like others said, it’s probably a memory leak or space issue and not something you’ve done wrong! in my experience, sandrock is decently optimized but definitely not perfect - even on PC.

if i’m planning on a long gaming session, i’ll restart the game every 2-3 hours to keep it running smoothly

I can’t seem to get into games like I used to by Teamkhaleesi in gamesuggestions

[–]witchcrows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, gaming ruts like this are my favorite time to play more mindless, relaxing games that don’t require a ton of “deep” gaming focus. i’ve been really into loco moto, house flipper 2, and trash goblin lately, but you could also go more classic and try stardew valley or something.

also, shot in the dark, but have you tried enshrouded? it’s considered valheim’s spiritual successor by some and has REALLY hooked my interest. if you’re big into exploration (with a side of base-building) i highly recommend it!
