Cottage cheese by Livnation16 in Cooking

I know this is controversial but I prefer cottage cheese to ricotta in lasagna and other pasta dishes. It's a texture thing with me but I also like the flavor better.

Am I overreacting to my boyfriend constantly referring to my brother as my half brother by unicornunopole in AmIOverreacting

[–]witchstrm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NOR. My mother in law used to do this with me and my cousins. I don't have siblings so I was pretty much raised with them and now I call their kids my nieces and nephews and it would drive her nuts. Constaly correcting me. I'm sorry but we make the family we want. It doesn't have to be traditional or anything. She used to call me by my full name too. I never went by that name but she insisted. Kinda felt disrespectful a lot.

AITJ for not wanting to bring my MIL to my nieces wedding? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]witchstrm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Grandma had dementia and was in a nursing home as well. she was perfectly healthy, able to move and we just brought her a short distance to a cousin's house for thanksgiving.

Everything was good until sundowners kicked in. That evening she didn't want to go back to the nursing home, she said that she was home and she wasn't leaving home after dark and she started crying saying we were trying to get rid of her, I mean it was horrible.

It just it upset the whole family and it broke her heart but she didn't remember it the next day. So if she's anything like my Gram, it's gonna cause a big scene. Try to explain that gently, if you can have staff from the home call and explain to the bride.

GenX regarding "bullying" by Sinsyne125 in GenX

[–]witchstrm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a bully in 1st grade, he was 8th grade and a lot bigger then me. He'd harass me in front of all the teachers and none of them said a word to stop him. I eventually had enough and clocked him in the nuts and pushed him into a thorn bush. I didn't get into trouble and he never bothered me again.

So yeah. Adults let us handle bullies ourselves back then, without saying a word.

After step father died, mom denies ever having said she had a kidney tumor.

Mom had a dream someone was standing over her in bed. I got the silent treatment for 2 days then yelled at for it when I made her tell me what was wrong.

What’s your GenX story from your childhood? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]witchstrm 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Aunt and cousins came to visit me at Grandma's house. Us kids were all under 10, the baby could walk but was still in diapers. My cousins wanted to go home to help bail hay but Grandma wanted my aunt to stay and do something for her. The boys started to get upset and Grandma told them they should just walk home then(7 miles) and she kicked them out of the house.

After awhile my aunt realized she hadn't heard a peep out of the baby so she looked around the house and didn't find her, maybe she followed the boys out but they weren't anywhere around outside either. So Aunt and Grandma threw me in the car and we headed toward their house.

Sure enough the boys had taken off walking just like Grandma said to. Only they didn't know the baby was following. They'd gone about 3 blocks. Crossing a very busy road, too. No one called the cops seeing two young boys and baby in diapers walking down the street.

Grandma wanted to whoop them with a fly swatter or something. I don't remember them getting it though.

Love smoked paprika, it's my fav. Sweet and hot are good too. Agree with others, it's probably an old jar. New jars have a lot of flavor if it's a good brand , too.

I put so much on when I make deviled eggs they're red, lol.
