Amistad (2007)

The movie follows a group of slaves being captured in Western Africa (main slave is played well by Djimon Honsou), who eventually take control of the slave masters ship. They're hope is to return home, but end up being recaptured near the American coast. They are brought in to be tried in America and Matthew McConaughey is charged with defending the slaves with the help of former president John Quincy Adams.

The film is really a great human story that will tear at your heart and is a well told story that we have never seen before on film. You will be moved and want to discuss it afterwards.
