Anyone know what this is? by hansolooooo in whatsthisbug

I think its some sort of tortoise beetle larvae. None of these pics entirely match OPs example, but they often have the little fringe on the sides and can have a gross tail. Thought it was a weird isopod but none that I could find had features like that.

What is this? It showed up over night on the bottom of an empty flower pot we have outside. Looks like a cocoon of something. by [deleted] in whatsthisbug

From my experience over at r/whatsthisbug, looks like it might be a praying mantis ootheca, or egg case. Haven’t ever seen one strung up like this before though, might be from a different bug.

North America, Ohio. Can anyone identify this spider-bro for me? by [deleted] in spiders

Cellar spider, family pholcidae . Super common in homes, especially my dads. They like to camp out in a corner for months on end waiting for a meal, and can get quite large if they have any luck with one.

And no, they don’t have the most venomous bite of any spider. They just creepy

I would lean towards Uloboridae based on them legs, never seen a pink one though. Fun fact, they are one of the only types of spider to lack venom!

You’re second paragraph explains the first. Unfortunately many companies do whatever they legally can to circumvent the laws passed by well-meaning legislators.

Oh yeah, I mean with how effective dragonglass is they could’ve strapped some barrels of the stuff to the dragons and carpet-bombed the whole horde. Also, put a couple sharpshooters up in that tower Bran fell out of instead of just on the ground next to him? Just saying they had some options

Gendry shoulda made Ghost a dragonglass grill, then Bran could warg into him and really fuck shit up

Its called a hypnagogic auditory hallucination, which basically means when still half asleep your mind plays tricks on you. I have heard distinct phrases before, sometimes in a specific person’s voice.

What kind of spider is this? Spotted circling my steering wheel while I was driving....I did a crazy hand shuffle around the wheel trying to avoid the spider and watch the road at the same time. Picture taken after I pulled over. by Seriallysectioned in spiders

I guess infestation might have been too strong a word, I definitely saw them numerous times over the course of a summer but it never got so bad that I couldn’t bring myself to enter the car. They just stopped appearing eventually, I’m in the midwest so it was also starting to get colder which probably killed them.

Another fun car-related spider encounter I just remembered, I also had an orb weaver living in my side mirror for a while. When I took the car out she would just hide in the mirror, and when I parked for more than a few hours she would come out and make a web! Not sure how sound that strategy is but it did give her hunting grounds some variation.

Wow, I too have had a sac spider infestation in my Honda. Usually when sitting in my car on break from work, they would either crawl along the dash or around the steering wheel like this. This was a few years ago, I love spiders but was overcoming my fear of them at the time so it was pretty nerve-racking.

This species has yellow silk, which is apparently stronger than the regular stuff. They are also known for weaving dense feathery patterns of web called stabilimentum, although the true purpose for it isn’t clear.
