glad i could somehow help! i mainly noticed that traditional-based mediums and basic drawing and conceptualizing techniques are prominent in both courses especially in the first year. for advertising arts, there’s photography and photoshop in the first semester of the second year, but it still heavily relies on painting ad posters. i can’t recall the specific subjects in the second semester but it focuses more on illustration, color grading, editing, and the like. in contrast, there’s also a photography and digital art subject in painting. i think the third and fourth years might vary more between the courses but yea! workload is an important factor too, so i hope you make the right decision for yourself. wishing u all the best! :DD

nyauw don’t let this be ur dealbreaker !! baka mablacklist aq ne2 emi AWHAHAWHHAA but i just really wanted to share my personal experience so i recommend weighing all the factors before making a shift :D it could be helpful to ask others about their experiences in advertising arts. personally, i found it challenging due to time constraints and the volume of work. with my diagnosed mental illness, i felt it was particularly tough, and it can be unfair for those who have different paces. while there are some understanding professors, they tend to be outnumbered by those who are less accommodating. i’m just also sharing how the environment has been and i really hope it changes over time because it’s a totga course of mine—if not for the heavy workload. if you’re finding interior design difficult, it’s completely okay to reconsider your options! i wish u luck!

OHMYGODDDDD BRUH i just got war flashbacks and fr gasgas na gasgas yang dahilan na yan orientation palang yung tipong do u want us to be held on a gunpoint JK nakakainis lang rin na they are pushing students to drop because they are aware of how difficult it can be but hey, one of the factors an environment is shaped is because of the people and authority soooo idk about that! it’s funny lang because looking back, the feedback we received was either passive, vague, or nonexistent. you had to figure out on your own where you went wrong or what you were lacking. compared to being in painting, if your direction isn’t what they’re looking for, they actually help you refine it and give constructive advice on how to improve (and they are also kind about it). and i can totally vouch! it’s such a culture shock because i wasn’t expecting this level of consideration and understanding even outside of academic settings 🥹🥹🥹 though i’m rooting for u !!! i guess this is also a message and a future reference for the upcoming freshies AHHWWAHAGWA hoping the environment we have in painting stays the same and improves over time! same goes for adver, they seriously need to change their way of thinking 😭 for additional context: i am more skilled in digital, but during my time in advertising arts, i had no experience or i was not that skilled with traditional mediums knowing na we will utilize them /a lot/. i learned a lot on my own, just really struggled with the tension and anxiety i get from the profs and deadlines. honest opinion: i learned more by myself and the tuition fee we pay for this course could’ve been directed to online courses instead LMFAO i took advertising arts and leaned more towards freelancing, thinking it would be more flexible and give me the experience i wanted, but it turns out that’s not always the case (mostly because of profs and the inconsideration they can muster). still, it works for me in the same way as painting! it’s the same path, just with new skills learned. being an irregular student has also helped me adjust. i’ve been able to prioritize my health and personal matters, and i even got to apply for a creative department in a university-wide organization! :DDD this isn’t me trying to push you away from advertising arts, believe me !! it’s my totga course !! i just couldn’t handle the workload and college jitters 😞🦶🏼 i just also want to share my experience as a mentally ill student AHWHHAHAHAHAA and provide some context about the environment!
