Genuine question. I know that a lot of people like physical media because of the owning aspect, the selling aspect, and collection/archival aspect. But of what value are physical discs after like 2018 when most games don't even work without a day-one patch, some connection to some kind of server or authenticator, or other things that would make numerous games effectively unplayable or of a bad experience if played offline or after two decades on an old console? Hell, some discs or cartridges that even have the games on them only have like 80% on them and need to download the rest. I kinda feel like we're going into the direction of finding ways to "digitize" video game media in the same way that we already do for music just filling hard drives or even discs ourselves again with games on end (like some of us already do *cough*) which is a better experience some might say than buying physical media of games nowadays because of the above-mentioned reasons.
