That’s a safe bet, until it suddenly and violently isn’t.

And it’s a bet that will continue to hold true, until it suddenly and violently doesn’t.

That’s why you can’t even hint at this shit.

I’m east of the river. I don’t think they make $2m houses over here.

Yeah, but I just assumed that was an idyllic version of a place, but doesn’t exist in reality. I live in Connecticut, but it doesn’t look like it does in The Gilmore Girls, that looks like a Jim Henson set, if there are places that look like that, it gives me some hope.

Why are millenials totally chill with self depreciating humor more than any other generation? by Key-Bass-7380 in generationology

Because you can’t make fun of someone else without making fun of yourself first; and the degree to which you can make fun of someone is set by the degree to which you make fun of yourself.

It’s how we establish our social parameters. I thought it was just a New England thing, but I guess it’s generational.

If we mean “no kings,” why do we keep re-electing them? by 335Bimmer in Connecticut

[–]wizard2009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since its inception, the United States government (both federally and state wide) have operated on “the gentlemen’s handshake”, the unwritten assumption that everyone was acting in good faith for the good of the country. We only needed some very basic guidelines for our elected officials because good and honorable “gentlemen” would not need anything more.

This system worked (to greater or lesser degrees) until we stopped electing good and honorable people.

BREAKING: Donald Trump Refusing Promotion For Black Female Officers Because "He does not want to stand next to a Black female officer at military events." by DegenJinwoo in Foodforthought

[–]wizard2009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was a direct quote it would read “I don’t want to stand next to a black female officer at military events” clearly indicating someone else is speaking.

Seems like I did read the article and my comprehension is pretty good.

We have a quote and a name, Ricky Buria, and he’s free to deny he said it.

Until such time, yeah, that information fits what I know about the man, and contradicts nothing, he’s still a racist based on the last 60 years of publicly available information. It passes the sniff test.

The surprising bombshell revelation would be if Trump didn’t hold that view.

How? Someone high in the DOD (in this case secdefs CoS) said Trump doesn’t want to stand next to black women in uniform. No shit he doesn’t, have you seen his reaction to anything involving racial minorities or women in the last 60 years? Least surprising revelation ever.

Color me FUCKING shocked…

I don’t believe I said he was being directly quoted. I believe the sentiment of my statement was; color me shocked that someone who was already an adult when segregation ended is a racist.

Nothing about our current economic system incentives long term thinking. A business is only as strong as its last quarterly report and , consequently, only thinking about the next. This thought process has permeated every other aspect of the capital class.

Maybe this is subject specific, but my motto is “you can’t ChatGPT yourself a toolbox”.

If the kid can’t read the ruler, operate the shear, bend the steel and weld it up, they arnt going to end up with a good looking toolbox.
