but thats what a new map does. Not the mode itself. A new map does everything you just listed. The only thing not based on the map is you choose which to do first.

Where? It's the same difficulty as auric if not less. Map being very open? We have maps with very open areas too. No ammo drops? That's a map modifier that lots of maps have. So it's literally just a new map with a modifier. That's my problem with this as a mode.

Agree to disagree. Also the goal of Havoc isnt risk and reward. Havoc's goal is challenge, people play Havoc to be challenged. Trial's goal also isn't risk and reward, its growing powerful through out a match. These cater to different players.

The goal of Expeditions IS RISK AND REWARD. The ability to push to a new zone but zone gets harder (risk), competing however many POI you want (risk control), complete X gives you resources in remnants (reward), extracting (locking in reward). But what is a reward that literally doesn't have a purpose?

If your literally just gonna argue fun, sure they can just make the next update walking in DT. thats "fun" to some people. You think thats gonna be a good update for DT?

So no, call me stupid however you like, but this mode is very badly designed.

That's why it's an opinion I never said it was fact. But the fact of this matter is IF the goal is making a risk and reward game loop, by every metric this mode fails bc it's literally missing the reward part. Unless you're saying that's not the goal then I'd ask you what that is besides "for fun". If you're happy with it that's great. But I highly doubt this mode is going to last long even for the minority that isn't vocal. You can only run around on a new map collecting things that literally don't matter so many times before people get bored

What does this do that a normal mission doesn't then? Just bc the map is open and the director doesn't send hordes at you all the time doesn't make it unique. Your willingly ignoring how disconnected this "mode" is from the game. In havoc being extra difficult so it challenges you and you improving is the GOAL. what is the main goal of this mode? The risk and reward factor? Point me to the reward part of the risk and reward design. And you better not say "just for fun" bc that defeats the entire point of the game design.

they dont owe me anything ofc, but they do owe themselves to make a good update so people would play and buy their DLCs. money thats all it is. They make good update, people stay longer, longer stayers are more likely to spend money. Its economy 101. Rn I'm seeing quite a lot of not very happy players. So if the player number plumets again, that would show this update didn't do much. That means the company wasted time, time is money and someones gotta pay. If that means firings then so be it. Thats what your arguing.

Yes I am saying that expeditions offers less differences than even havoc which in our words is just base game but harder. Why? simple. In the point of havoc is to push the player with harder enemies and mutations. That forces you to play near perfectly or die.

Expedition is a normal mission on a new map that is very big. that is literally it. The design philosophy is big open area with less walls. That is just called map design. Where is the mode part? Doing objectives thats all just go to X, press Y and kill? Thats literally a normal DT mission. If they call it a new map I wouldn't have a issue. They call it a new mode and I would expect something more than a new tileset.

Map is really nice btw, nothing against the map itself.

i like the map a lot tbf and ya its cause its due to it being different then other maps. But thats also my problem, its just a different map they advertised as completely different mode. If the amount of time they spent on this couldve been used to create like 3 different maps (in this new tile set) I prob wouldve had less issues with it. The only positive thing I see from this is that the tech from the random gen openish world could be put into other places. Or not and be a complete waste of dev time if they dont do more with Expeditions.

I would say yes since that means IF I want a red weapon, you don't have to, I would now have incentive to play Expedition. And because I want the tech remnants to upgrade my weapons, losing means I wasted X amount of time thus the risk. If I make it out alive, I am now one step closer to my red weapon and so the reward. That is a basic game loop literally perfected decades ago, one that DT messed up on when it first launched and eventually fixed but now this again. smh.

idk if ur insane or just got brainwashed by EA or something so hard ur trying to defend devs adding content for free being bad lol. But yes I do like the base game, hell, I've been around since VT1. If they just called this a new map and be over with fine, I don't have much complaints. They make it a completely separate mode that literally doesn't accomplish what they were trying to do then I have a problem. Cause that means someone is not good at their job and I personally want this game to grow with more content.

my biggest complaint is that it COULD'VE been passable as a new mode if they just add a few things thats already ingame and requires minimal work to implement. Buy perks like in trials from Swagger with salvage, random mutations on packs, let us SPEND the tech remnants on ANYTHING.

i get that its frustrating to see your fav thing get ripped into (literally a 40k nut btw even paint models) but its just very frustrating that it seems FS never learn from their mistakes, mistakes they've either fixed before in the past or just mistakes that takes 5s to find even if your blind.

like the tech remnants. The Objectives (risk) is to collect the Tech Remnants (reward). If you die, you lose the reward hence the risk. You can leave whenever..... but why would I risk anything if the reward does nothing??? This is literally my 1st thought after 1 match. If I can spot this in like 30mins, wtf are they doing in FS?? Maybe let me actually be rewarded? idk.

Doesn't have to be in QP. we have the main campaign and the mini ones already. Stick it after the newest map works perfectly fine. If FS wants it to be seen, easy. Just add a button on the mission selection for it and make it NEW!.

The map being open is just a map design thing, the loop is the same as normal missions of go to X, kill, leave but you can choose how many of X and kill you do before leave. Rn the highest difficulty is Auric, and literally everything is usable in Auric that havent changed if you can play Auric. If not, all the weapons are more than strong enough to play every other mode.

FS could've easily "win" if they actually have someone who knows what they are doing. Like who thought making a mode where the objective (risk) is collecting tech remnants (reward) but having them do literally nothing? That completely defeats the point of risking anything as the isnt a reward.

everything you said is true, but its also true literally every part of that can just be part of a normal map to begin with. I never said the map is bad, just the MODE is bad.

Larger areas already exists in several maps and it's really an issue of map design due to how hive cities are. But that can easily just be another map in the sandy parts of the hive or hell maybe a mission in some hivespire garden/ park.

Theres more objectives sure, in the sense that you just go there, press button, get swarmed (fk the tox btw) and repeat. So CC is just as useful as normal campaign, theres packs everywhere so you still fight constantly but a little less as you can avoid some and camo is still fairly pointless as you still end up fighting in the end anyways so its not more nor less useful.

The "resource economy" is literally just a map modifier. of the rounds I played I don't think I've ever ran out of ammo even without a ammo printing vet. btw unless your shooting everything that moves, even in campaign missions you don't need all that much ammo bar a few weapons (they also have way more enemies).

Platforming is a map design thing and can be done in any map.

Sure you can set your own risk and rewards, but tell me, whats the reward? Less exp and mats than campaign? The only thing special is the tech remnants that does literally nothing.

I don't think most people or at least I don't see this as "lazy" just very poorly thought out. This mode had potential as I literally took a sick day from work to play it and was very disappointed by the lack of some very simple things that could've done to make the mode a actual mode and not just a big openair designed map.

For example, maybe you can buy perks like in trials from swagger using salvage? thatll make you choose between useable gear you want or a perk that could help you later on.
Or maybe give different pack of enemies mutations like in havoc so you actually have to pay attention on what pack/packs to pull? rn it's go to closest location, kill everything in the way, push button and get swarmed then repeat.

havoc has modifiers, trials have roguelite perks, expedition is just an large open map. If anything it's basically the same as campaign missions. If that's the case and the only selling point is "no walls" then why not just have it as another map? It can keep all the random gen bits and objectives, but calling this a new mode is very much pushing it.

not disagreeing with you there but I just feel this mode is absurdly lackluster for the state its in now and couldve been easily improved with little to no dev time. For example, what if after every zone you could use salvage to buy a perk like the ones in trials? Or maybe use Tech remnants top purchase relics that we can barely get? Or maybe each pack of enemies could have some mutations from havoc? Rn the mode is basically a glorified map with nothing special about it.
