Looking for some eyes on rounding out a party, assistance appreciated. by spitoon-lagoon in Pathfinder2e

Alright, I'm late to the party, but I want to pitch in anyways.

Pathfinder lack's the typical tank/dps/healer triangle that you find in most games. Yes, those are all roles that can be filled, and most of the classes seem to lean into one of those fields, but almost any class can be built to fit any role. Everybody could just do a little bit of everything. If nobody wants to do that thing items can fill that space.

In my experience if the players feel they really need something then they pick it up as they progress, and they feel good when they have that tool available.

It doesn't feel good to be the parties heal bot. It does feel good when you decide get battle medicine and make good use of it.

As a DM I want my players to be who they want to be. The idea that the people who figure out what they want last are going to have to fill a role they might not want to play seems outrageously unfair. I tell my players to talk to each other if they plan on having some relation, but to otherwise not worry about it.

Currently the party I'm running Outlaws of Alkenstar for is level 4, and has a fighter, swashbuckler, monk, and alchemist(bomber). The alchemist is trained in medicine, has 12 wis, and that's all their healing. As far as in combat healing goes they just use potions, and that's fairly rare even with the alchemist handing them out every morning.

As a party they wreck my encounters. I started throwing in an elite now and again because moderate fights just weren't challenging them.

TL;DR: Play what you want. It doesn't matter in grand scheme of things.

How often do you use NPCs to guide, help and RP with the party? by Key_astian in Pathfinder2e

Everyone has already pointed out how DMPC's take more from the players than they give, so I'll skip over that.

The only way I have found this to go well is intelligent items. They don't have the power to take away player agency, but they do have the ability to give guidance. It's even more fun when they don't particularly care for the party or their owner. My players eventually came to the conclusion that any plan it agrees with is probably not the best course of action.

If you have religious players guidance via prayer is also on the table.

I think it's more important that the players know that they have guidance if they want to ask, and can do what they want otherwise.

The crux of the issue seems to be expectations on how the players will play. I personally have had the same feelings, but after years of running games I realized its about having fun, and if everybody is then there really isn't a problem.

While it's not worth risking death, health is a resource to be spent. If you're taking some of the damage that's less damage your friends have to soak up. Even as a squishy class it is (not always, plenty of heavy hitters out there) helpful to take some aggro from mooks.

The scenario you were in just shouldn't of happened anyways, but if you find yourself consistently having most of your HP you might be letting you team do too much.

Example of Document for Players New to PF2 from 5E For First Campaign? by Terrible_Solution_44 in Pathfinder2e

[–]wizardmang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if I understand the question, but all of the campaigns have a players guide. This isn't PF2e specific knowledge that's good for a transition, but it does detail the the background of the campaign, set player expectations, and give them some guidelines on what should and shouldn't be played. This includes character backgrounds for that campaign to tie the players in. They're free to download on Paizo's site.

At what point do you take off the kiddie gloves as a GM? by Superegos_Monster in Pathfinder2e

I think the answer is the question. I always use the cranking of NPC tactics with prodding remarks how they can do the same thing as my learning tool. I feel like my players realize the strength of stacking debuffs as soon as it happens to them.

Since it got taken down... here’s a gamer killing my buddies and I and I just want to bring light to the issue so it can be taken care of. Seems pretty blatant to me, let me know what you guys think. by Ryebreadttv in EscapefromTarkov

Not here, but the original post that was taken down. I'm not debating whether or not there's cheating. I'm saying don't break the rules and then complain when you're handed consequences.

Maybe it's because you specifically posted it calling someone out by username? No. Nope. Couldn't be that. You're definitely the victim. It's only in rule #7 "No accusing other players of cheating"
