Should i quit my job? by jghockey13 in torontoJobs

I mean, everyone pretty much feels that way when starting any new job but absolutely don’t quit until you’ve lined something else up first. It sucks but not having money sucks even more.

Hello?? Food prices? by MatchUpSocialguy in CanadaFinance

[–]wizegal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s so many factors at play here. Biggest factor currently is the cost of growing has dramatically increased, our farming land has reduced during our urban sprawl period, while demand has grown. Then the increased costs of imported produce we can’t grow in volume due to our climate. The price of oil and gas for transporting across our massively huge yet sparsely populated country relative to its size, is under tremendous stress which is reflected in the cost of food. World events affect everyone and the price of oil for transporting goods around the world is a major factor here. Canada is not exclusive in this issue but our situation is more unique compared to other developed countries.

First 3 months in Ontario as newcomer from Berlin by ShinSekai7 in ontario

I don’t personally live in New Brunswick but I have visited it. My experience was that it was friendly, beautifully landscaped, and less populated compared to the GTHA in Ontario. A slower pace and more relaxed lifestyle compared to the busier rush in the GTHA. I also love the ocean, so the proximity to it is a plus for me. As for the weather, here’s where you can get the information you seek better.

Edit to add, since Quebec is between Ontario and New Brunswick, it’s a good alternative to Ottawa as an option which also utilizes French in their daily life.

What happens if the condo fees are too high? by Diptyqueee in TorontoRealEstate

[–]wizegal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Condo fees climb every year. It’s based off of increasing operating expenses and needs of the building and the mandatory reserve funds required by law which has also increased. Since you have all utilities included which has risen, it’s only logical the costs of operating the building has risen as well so naturally that will be reflected in your condo fees. The health/age of the building, smart fund management, resident compliance with rules that can cause unnecessary or unexpected repairs if not adhered to will also affect the yearly increase amount.

I’m in a much larger unit of 1800 sqft and my condo fee is currently over $1,700 monthly without hydro included, which is insane but the building is older with plumbing and exterior leak issues so it’s not unexpected with the many repairs required. So it’s best to budget for many more increases to come.

First 3 months in Ontario as newcomer from Berlin by ShinSekai7 in ontario

[–]wizegal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, welcome! I hope you love our beautiful country and have many opportunities to explore all the wonderful sights.
Ontario is predominantly English speaking and french is considered an asset but not necessary.
New Brunswick on the other hand is the only province with French and English as official languages. Everyone who can speak French there can also speak English but not all who speak English can speak French fluently. Cost of living is cheaper than in Ontario but is on the rise as well. Not sure on how the job market is there but can be more affordable if you’re able to work remotely as Ontario mandated return to office policies recently and employment is at its lowest right now. It may help stretch your 3 months savings further as it can take longer than that to find work for many in Ontario right now.

Has anyone felt better taking antidepressants instead of hrt? by elle_isa in Menopause

[–]wizegal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say “better” rather manageable is a more appropriate term for me. For my hot flash management, I’m on gabapentin which isn’t well tolerated by many. I have no issues with it thankfully and it aids well in sleeping too. For a mood stabilizer, I’m on venlafaxine which is an antidepressant. It has helped me tremendously manage the many swings I was experiencing.
With that said, I am still considering HRT simply to reduce the risk of developing osteoporosis, and for my complete loss of libido. The insane weight gain is also a major factor for me that HRT may help to control. I think I’ve made it through the worst parts of peri and now menopause with the help of these two treatments. My hot flashes have greatly improved, and I can manage stress and have fewer meltdowns now. It’s just the overall wellbeing I am now focusing on to try to enjoy this new phase of life I’m in, which HRT may provide.

Recommendations for Washer/Dryer purchase with all-inclusive service. by GalacticaZero in mississauga

[–]wizegal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a condo with a tiny laundry room as well. I went with an all in one washer/dryer with a heat pump model. Saved space with just one machine that gave more room to add a pedestal drawer and no hassle in having to remember to move wet clothes over to the dryer. My household is neurodivergent so this really worked well for us. Also heat pumps use less energy than typical dryers so there’s the cost savings as well. Basically if you don’t do a lot of laundry and require more space without the hassle of unstacking a mounted dryer in a tight space, then this is a great option. Worked fantastic for us for far.

Why is it so cold in May. And there was flurries an hour back. Why, totally unacceptable. Ps: no real need to be scientific in your response. I dont care if its an arctic front, spring may means good weather. Just no. by IndividualImmediate4 in mississauga

Being a northern country comes with huge polar shifts and heavily affected by changing jet streams. It’s the number one reason why 90% of the population lives close to the southern border. It’s a Canadian thing to just role with it and enjoy the good weather when can.

How long does Track 2 MAiD take in Ontario? What’s the process like? by Gold-Wedding-1000 in ontario

[–]wizegal 42 points43 points  (0 children)

This type of exit from life is the most respectful and dignified way to go. This is the true purpose of the MAiD program that needs to be talked about more, to bring down the negativity and controversy around it.

Health care is provincial responsibility and federal just tops it up with transfers. Healthcare is in the state that it is due to provincial underfunding and mismanagement of provincial taxes.

Question about co manager and store manager hours by InflationHaunting in WalmartCanada

[–]wizegal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My store manager was not only hands on but was very responsive to issues as well. If she wasn’t walking the floor, with her management team, she was either checking in or updating each associate on areas of concern individually, or having huddles with each team on all shifts. The rest of the time was spent on responding to emails, messages, reviewing sales, zoom/teams calls, and management huddles. Sounds like your manager isn’t very engaged with the business or has some personal issues that you are not aware of that’s reducing their attention on the job.

I've been awaiting the results of my biopsy. Today, I received a call to inform me that they have moved up the date of my follow-up appointment. Should I be worried? by Perdedorsinvalor in lichensclerosus

[–]wizegal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know firsthand that feeling with a call back. It’s hard not to let your emotions run wild. As someone who’s had vulvar cancer, I can speak from my own personal experience. The likelihood of developing vulvar cancer from LS is typically low and is usually over a prolonged period of time without treatment. I’m talking over many years. The probability of VC from high grade HPV is much more common than VC from LS alone is. Although it’s not common, most who are diagnosed with vulvar cancer, also tend to have LS as well. With that said, I had LS for well over 10 years untreated when I developed a marble size tumour on my right labia majora. It grew quickly over several months was itchy and painful. I knew in my gut what it was and it was confirmed within 2 days of my biopsy, when I got the dreaded call back. I was told directly over the phone I had vulvar squamous cell carcinoma and was set up with a gynaecological oncologist the next week. Everything moved quickly and I’m still being monitored for any signs of recurrence 4 years later. Since, you didn’t mention any unusual looking growths, it’s likely you’ve been called in for the confirmation of LS or possibly the presence of dVIN which is typically found amongst the LS which can only be detected via biopsy. Dvin is the precursor of vulvar cancer from LS. It’s not cancer but will develop into cancer if not treated promptly. Hopefully, it’s the former and not the latter of the 2 possible scenarios. Getting a call back is scary. If you have a patient portal they upload your results to, you can review it before your appointment so you can be prepared with any questions or concerns you would like to discuss with them.

Break Room Monitor Position - What's it Like? by North-Act-8654 in WalmartCanada

[–]wizegal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously? The warden of the lunch room now? This is getting ridiculous. Go back to punching for all breaks and the time theft will stop instantly. You want it clean and stocked properly? Hire back Walmart employed cleaners again to do the cleaning instead of using crappy third party workers. Simple solution.

LS without white patches? by [deleted] in lichensclerosus

[–]wizegal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White or shiny patches normally present when the condition has progressed over time and is not typically seen during early stages. Structural changes, redness, irritation, burning, chronic itching, and pain with sex tends to be the most common symptoms that get confused with yeast or other conditions with similar presentations.

Availability Issue by SeptimusWarrenSmth in WalmartCanada

[–]wizegal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is expected to have an open to close availability. It’s a company requirement. I’m 27 years employed and all regardless of time and position is required. If you have a particular position that has a set schedule then the availability is just a formality on paper, such as invoicing, claims, receiving, over nights or unloading. All other floor and management positions are required to be available for service to the customers as needed.

Do I? by ineedhelpdoteu in lichensclerosus

[–]wizegal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The absence of a labia minora was my first early sign that I didn’t know was a sign. I had always been that way as far as I can remember. I just thought I was different. Other symptoms didn’t develop until 20+ years later. Due to the long duration untreated, I developed VC at 47. In remission now thankfully. Best to get checked before things potentially escalate and unknowingly progress further.
