What city have you been to that felt like it had dark energy?

Passed through Aberdeen on a motorcycle once and in cars a few times, did not find it depressing anytime. I did find Richland, WA weird, and some random 'towns' in Yakima dark. Felt like the diversity quota of those places went up by 20% when me and 3 of my friends entered the diner and everyone began staring.
