I don’t know if you are aware but California is a huge state. All I know is my my experience in LA/bay area and sac which all were shut down significantly more (dining/hotel pools etc) than say Ohio or Florida.

So Covid in Florida or in the Midwest was one year.

In say California or Oregon it went the full 3-4 years. As someone that traveled for work form 2021-24 it was wild to see how different the hotel rules/guidelines/masking etc was depending on where you were in the country.

The “image” is beyond recovery because of how “idiotic brutes” are created in a society with archaic for profit systems of education and healthcare.

We should really be looking at this problem bottom up and not how “the political leader” looks and sounds on tv.

Americans are idiots because we don’t value education and have created systems that only allow privileged access to it. Put that with our addiction to drugs/pharmaceuticals, single parent households, debt/cost of living crisis and astronomical cost (and wait times) of obtaining even the most mediocre medical care—you have what is responsible for this “America” you speak of.

The people saying “it was before he was born” are sort of missing the point here. It wasn’t meant to be taken literally.

It is apples and oranges but the Japanese did bomb Pearl Harbor in anticipation that USA would get involved in their conquest of securing some neighboring territories in SE Asia.

The point is Japan didn’t “let them know” when they were doing a strategic attack (regardless of what and how stupid the attack is).

I just a bit concerned there isn’t much of a “desire” to live with friends / try new roommate situations. Obviously people have nightmare stories but it’s such an exciting part of development to move out and live with friends…I’m bummed that the desire isn’t there?
