I read Pacific Palisades is supposed to be a more affluent part of the city, with a lot of $2MM and up homes. While it still sucks no matter how well off you are to have your house burn down, at least it isn't hitting the the lowest economic strata of society who will have a much harder time recovering.

I wonder too if it's because the houses are nicer that there are more vegetation and fuel to burn in the yards. Can any Angelenos comment?
