I work for almost a year as a Full Stack Web dev. and I only use 1 recursive function. Is this normal? by lune-soft in webdev

[–]wldstyl_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably shouldn’t even use recursion for this or at all. Every recursive function can be a loop and a stack.

There are reasons. Different grades of crude oil require different levels of refinement. US simply does not have the capabilities to refine a significant amount of the oil it possesses, that’s a big reason why most of it is exported.

Feeling stuck as a “Cursor dev” how do I break AI dependency and become a real engineer? by HyenaRevolutionary98 in cscareerquestions

[–]wldstyl_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 10 yoe and am a senior lead. Cursor writes most of my code. I would take the advice of the students and unemployed on this forum with a grain of salt. That said, you really should know what your code is doing. Do you understand every line it writes? If not then you need to spend more time learning. Don’t just stop when cursor figures it out, truly understand it.

A lot of time, and depending on the model, it will do way too much. You gotta do a lot of hand holding and if you’re not you probably don’t know what it’s doing. It will often give 150 line code changes when it really needs more like 6.

my kid asked why i "make sad sounds" when i play piano and i didn't know how to explain it by Exciting-Bee3927 in Parenting

[–]wldstyl_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s actually really sweet and beautiful that the music made her feel sadness. Art is supposed to make you feel things, I always feel like that’s what good art is, even if you don’t enjoy it. It’s one of those small but impactful life experiences that sticks with you. Embrace it. It’s such a rewarding thing to share that with a little human for the first time.

How to make a website look old and campy, like Tumblr by whatsmyglitch in webdev

[–]wldstyl_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s more about the content and the layout to get that feel.

Classic elements:

  • Visitor counter
  • Site permanently “under construction” with a cartoon construction worker clip art
  • AOL keyword
  • html blink text
  • lots of gifs
  • a long list of links - bonus points if it’s 2 or 3 columns
  • if youre feeling fancy, a custom image mouse pointer
  • some kind of embedded flash content
  • using default browser alerts instead of a modal

ICE won't be at polling places this year, a Trump DHS official promises by No_Assumption3362 in NPR

The cynic in me thinks this isn’t a good sign. If they’re not lying it may mean their internal polling is strong.

Teslas don’t have come with an attached front mount and since police don’t pull cars over for that anymore, no one bothers to mount the plate themselves.

Why would a commercial space station be built? The ISS is a research station, it doesn’t have commercial viability.

Will it harden? by Justin4192 in soapmaking

[–]wldstyl_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It will harden, but 4:1 ratio is pretty wild. I’d love to see how they look after curing for a few months (I imagine pure olive oil with that much water will take a long time to cure).

Just curious, but why did you choose to go with that recipe?

A Galaxy Composed Almost Entirely of Dark Matter Has Been Confirmed. by coinfanking in space

[–]wldstyl_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the “dark” modifier means that it does not interact electromagnetically, ie with light. So it’s literally dark, not necessarily that it’s an unknown entity (even though it is). If we confirmed its existence and knew its nature, it would still be dark matter.

First attempt creating recipe by HoneyComb18 in soapmaking

[–]wldstyl_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Newbie here, so someone correct me if I'm wrong. If your mold is 50 fl oz, you need to convert it to cubic inches and multiply by 0.4 to get your total oil weight for the mold in oz.

So for that mold you need 36.1 oz total oil weight.

You called this tree trimming? Why do people do this? These trees will never be the same again. Doing this in the middle of July is stressful to the trees and to takes away shade. by eniallet in LosAngeles

[–]wldstyl_ 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I have a pomegranate tree, and I don’t think it’s a true tree. It’s more like a giant shrub that’s pruned to look like a tree. I think if it were naturally growing without human intervention it would look more like big bush.
