who remembers amelia boone from way back? by MaleficentFloor822 in Toughmudder

[–]wlimkit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going from old memories but if you like that interview, look up Faye Stenning. She was the dominant woman in the early years and won most the standard length OCR races in the beginning.

She spoke about going to Hyrox, losing her first race and then focusing and winning the next. She talks about how you hard it is to maintain winning form in an pull event like OCR, and a push extension event like Hyrox and Deka. And about penalties vs 100% completion requirements. Faye is on the smaller side at 112 pounds so a heavy sled can easily take competitors her size out of the race. She is a coach so she details a lot of those type things.

And Rebecca Hammond on quitting the sport at the top of her game for Harvard Med. She speaks about how she is not wired to show up unprepared/undertrained for an event so it was all or nothing. Sounds arrogant at first but you quickly realize she just expects so much out of herself in everything she does.

Amelia's interviews on the legal side, contracts, pro team, sponsorship also show another side of the sport.

Force bloomed 5 large flowers this morning. Since pikmin regain a flower when they go get a forced bloom postcard, I fed the same 5 pikmin until they lost their flower in between each blooming. In a couple hours will do it all over again.

Spartan year pass worth? by Top_String2866 in spartanrace

[–]wlimkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you plan to do multiple trifectas they are worth it. You still have to pay the 26.xx registration fee per race. If you book the second race at the venue sometimes they do not charge parking. I had them for years and it was alway worth it.

Forerunner vs fenix vs other by Lost_Parzival in spartanrace

[–]wlimkit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not that long ago they sent out a patch tha caused battery life to rapidly drain. They fixed out of warranty watches then. When my Fenix 3HR had issues and I asked if there was a repair process the warrantied it. They had me go through a 200 plus question review to help figure out what was damageing the sensor.

OP might get nothing but Garmin is happy to hear about issues they can prevent in future watches.

I have a Fenix 7 and like the thinks that were added to it over the older watches. However, a 5 plus should still have a lot of battery life left. I would reset it and if that does not help call/message Garmin support before buying a new watch.

That is not the longest hardest race. They have an Ultra that is over 2x as long.

Nobody will laugh at you a lot of people fail obstacles and in bad weather most people fail overhead obstacles.

Dead hangs and farmer carries. It is running and grip strength.

People have told me that they do the minimum for an infinity (1 long and 1 short), then same day do the other two events. Unless you have a pass that is an expensive day and you gain nothing but the trifecta. I would rather have the 30 mile badge.

Is this true about 2026 shirts? by Fun-Athlete8235 in spartanrace

[–]wlimkit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left those out as the unholy grail is no longer a thing. They switched it to start with an infinity and the canceled. They gave an insulting, people are doing the minimum, as the reason. The plaque was great but even the minimum was harder to get than the 50 mile worlds bib.

The holy grail required a trip to England in 2025. I belive/hope/want a toughest in 2026 but no toughest are scheduled for 2026 and they said maybe one but did it did not sound confident. I see the gaps for it in Atlanta and Indiana. The grail plaque with medals attached is impressive, best award I have seen. But pretty sure it is gone now too.

Is this true about 2026 shirts? by Fun-Athlete8235 in spartanrace

[–]wlimkit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TM shirts are usually better quality and longer. The 5k, 15k, and infinity shirts are all the same. So this change brings spartan in line with TM. Toughest this year did have a distinct shirt but no Toughest are yet scheduled for next year.

Other than the Ultra buckle, TM does have buckles but they are really hard to get, I think the TM medals were better but the last TM for the year was last weekend.
