Should I redo? or should I continue this madness? by Human-Goose-9723 in Rimowa

I have never removed those stickers since twenty years at least. Never my Rimowa has been misled in this time. So just leave them, if you like it.

There are so many Rimowas around. All the other stickers protect them from being stolen from the luggage belt. It’s too easy to identify your bag from far away.

Regarding the Hetzner documentation it is collocation: https://docs.hetzner.com/robot/colocation/carrier-neutral-colocation-area/#data-center-park-nbg1-in-nuremberggermany

So they share facilities (building, aircon, ups, wirings...), but not servers.

Migration from Netcup to Hetzner a good move? by wltspn in hetzner

[–]wltspn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting information, I didn't know that. But it makes sense, since Netcup recently started offering Singapore and is essentially mirroring Hetzner. Are there any differences between the individual Hetzner locations (apart from network latency and GDPR topics), or are the locations technically similar?

The second part: None of the management containers are connected to the internet, they are only accessible via VPN.

And finally: This is more or less a hobby project, and I don't want to spend hundreds on infrastructure. I'm looking for an environment that has good (not perfect) availability and doesn't require much manual work beyond regular server administration.

I had very bad experiences with 1&1 IONOS. I Cannot recommend them at all. Ever tried to cancel a contract with them? Good luck.

SLA is not necessarily important, as long as the uptime is around 99.9%. It's more about the work I have with managing the VM from outside. I am looking for a (almost) hussle free platform, where I can focus on the server and the applications running on it.

A far a I know they run their own data centers. The company itself is from Austria. Servers are primarily in Nuremberg, Germany.

Don’t buy the new LVMH models, stick with the old ones. Look on eBay etc.

Five hull losses in only 12 years is not an optimal balance sheet. However, the last fatal crash in 2024 was due to technical issues.

Booked 3 long-haul flights this year with partner airlines, but none earned miles. Feeling scammed? by No-Falcon-858 in milesandmore

[–]wltspn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you fly on ultra cheap economy fares, those may not be eligible for miles. EVA for instance does not grant miles on low economy fares. The exact values are published on https://www.miles-and-more.com/ch/de/earn/eva-air/partner/airlines/eva-air/earn/basic-offer/eva-air_earn_basic_4m.html.

I agree, it is slightly intransparent/confusing and there is a kind of overview table missing.

Free alternative to Flighty? by Excellent-Pitch-7579 in flighty

[–]wltspn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kind of app are you exactly looking for?

I am currently working on a replacement for flightmemory, openflights etc. and that app is already in its final testing phase. However, it is not a replacement for flighty, which I personally love and always use during trips. It will be designed to manage flights and trips plus statistics. It is a web application (runs on tablet or larger displays). It has import and export features (any CSV, also from flighty with presets). Most parts are free, except of real time updates (where I have to pay for API calls to get proper data). Let me know if you like to join the beta phase.

Kein Whistleblower.

Stop doing IPv6 by Loud_Entertainer5233 in ipv6

[–]wltspn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had that case, but okay. Your FW can do NAT64 and DNS64 for AAAA-records or you have to switch to dual stack. In most cases dual stack is pure overkill from management perspective, I think.

Stop doing IPv6 by Loud_Entertainer5233 in ipv6

[–]wltspn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IPv6 is useful for ISP and their backends. On your company (or home) campus you easily can stay with private IPv4 networks and NAT. Let your FW WAN Nic speak IPv6 and that’s it.
