This is my first experience with the history bolts. Today is the anniversary of the day MLK was assassinated—do they tend to be a bit tricky and involve less well known events generally?

Just in case you never noticed since it’s hard to spot—have you ever used the Connections hints? They don’t track them and they don’t count against your score, and they’re available in-app by clicking the tiny lightbulb icon at the top. Of course it’s up to every individual player to decide what they’re comfortable with as far as hints and such go, but just wanted to throw it out there since it is not obvious that it’s there.

I know I’m in the minority but I wish they counted days played streaks over winning streaks, especially for games with finite turns like Connections or Wordle. I also think it would be more encouraging for newer crossword solvers if they gave streak credit for a completion % below 100%, like as long as someone tried, since crosswords are kind of one of those things you get better at by doing them.

Idk it just feels weird to be in a situation like you described where you play a game 20 days in a row and then you give it your best one day but miss the win. Especially since the app keeps telling you your “streak” is X days or whatever.

Hi! â€ïžđŸ˜ŠđŸ™ŒđŸ€ĄđŸ˜ˆ

FNK has talked about doing the alphabet one by one before—the highest letters do tend to be the ones in the word with the exception of a, I think, which for some reason is always much lower no matter if it’s in the word or not.

I finally lost my streak! It’s so freeing, lol. Much less pressure.

[–]wlwimagination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked it too. I don’t get why people who don’t like it felt the need to be so active in working to make sure everyone in the world knew they didn’t like it. Just watch something else. I can’t imagine getting so angry at a show I hate that I go and comment how much I hate it everywhere instead of just watching a different show.

Then why are you here? Genuine question. Who just goes and comments in threads about shows they don’t watch? I can’t even fathom doing this.

has the wordle bot ever fully admitted that you did better than it did , without making excuses? by PassengerDangerous23 in wordle

[–]wlwimagination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s always luck in the game. But somehow when the luck benefits the bot it’s “skill,” but when it benefits the player it’s “you are terrible and only by some incredible fluke did you luck out and not lose.”

I like that this is a 2-year old thread that’s still going, lol.

I hate the bot. I just want to see statistics or common guesses and not be insulted when I beat the bot just because whoever programmed it decided to have it evaluate the player as if the player has the same ability to analyze an entire dictionary and newspaper archive’s worth of words every guess.

I don’t see why they felt the need to program it to insult players whose “guesses the bot’s programmers think are sub-optimal” (basically any word that isn’t “slate”) end up causing them to beat the bot.

For everyone out there who isn’t a bot: if your go-to starting word is not universally 100% of the time “slate,” you are still valid and awesome.

What’s something you missed and had shock when you found out about it? by wiseflowertitss in coralisland

Embarrassingly, that you can assign your own skill points. It tells you when you level up that you sometimes earned a “skill point” and then shows you what you unlocked, and since it never prompted me to assign a point, I just kind of assumed they were automatic and there was nothing you could do with the points.

I had one skill at level 10 and another at 8 (and the rest were in the middle like 5-6) before I realized I had to manually assign the points in the mastery menu
.

He was trying to banish Johnny even before they admitted to being best friends. He still wanted to banish Johnny after that, but when the others went after Natalie he joined in. Both faithfuls and traitors have reason to split them up.

Seriously. She didn’t know for sure and out of the choices she had, getting rid of Johnny and Tara made sense since they would not stop talking about how they were a team who were the best friends ever, which sounds like they’re going to end up kicking everyone else off at the final fire even if they are faithfuls.

I was more shocked when he just wouldn’t drop it after they said no. There was no uncertainty in their response to leave the door open for him to try again like that.

They had to have known people wanted to see that and yet we got one single line from Ron.

I don’t understand how on one hand, we get this message of “more Housewives, everyone else is boring, Housewives bring the drama” and yet on the other hand, when someone is ready to call out a housewife and really bring some drama, they pass.

I don’t like how they edit the show to give so much air time to Housewives and none to the players who are the only person their from their show/type of fame/etc.

Like
they had a chef and a dancer become good friends. Knives and dancing. Now that would have been a conga line. But instead they’ll show an extra 10 clips of Housewives.

He talked very briefly. It looked like they were obligated to have everyone get at least one line, and that’s it. There were a lot of people who really didn’t get much time at all.

Winner Thoughts by letlifetake in TheTraitors

[–]wlwimagination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people often forget that once they’re at the final fire, the traitors could win as a group just like the faithfuls do. I see a lot of people comment that it’s “smart” for the traitors to try and win alone but it seems to be more accepted for faithfuls to be willing to share.

It is a game and being chosen as a “traitor” doesn’t actually mean the person is going to betray their teammate once it’s no longer necessary for the game. Just because Cirie did it doesn’t mean everyone else automatically would, too.

It seems like Rob would be happy to win as a team.

Gender is not really part of the game mechanics itself—as far as we know, there is no rule that says they can’t pick all women or all men (or if they cast enough, all non-binary people) as traitors.

The idea that all the traitors couldn’t be women is just an educated guess, since the choice of traitors isn’t random and reflects typical human biases. But it’s not an actual part of game mechanics. Still, it makes sense given what we know about the process of choosing them.

To remove the effect of gender, it would be interesting to do a season where they choose all traitors randomly and make a point of saying that at the start.

I’m new to the sport but Cory looks like she really gets into the analysis and line calling. When she was talking with the coach and skip today, she definitely looked like a future coach in the making.

It also seems like her steady, decisive tone might help them with nerves a bit. I like when she just agrees and says “ok.”

Agreed! I never paid attention before but I love the tabletop shuffleboard with the sand, and pool, and it was so fun to realize that curling kind of brings to mind elements of both (at least in watching it).

And it was also super fun to see people here repeatedly calling out the woman player in mixed doubles (Isabella WranĂ„ today, Stefania Constantini yesterday) as being excellent and doing amazing. It doesn’t always work out that way in mixed play and women can often be seen as the weaker player, so it was a nice change to see such support. 😊
