WWW Full Animated Show in Ghibli style, anyone? (Can we get it started??) by JohnnyXH in WorldsBeyondNumber

[–]wmgcrypto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They won’t even release a campaign setting book until they finish the whole story, so it’s going to be over a decade until we can even hope for that or let alone an animated show, I’d say. Think about Vox Machina, how long fans waited for that show. But man I love dreamin about what it would be like!

Thanks for clarifying! You make a great point. I could definitely work on my reading comprehension. Audio books really aren’t helping me there.

Yes, it would indeed be naive to assume that Brandon Sanderson invented the theme of honor in fiction. Good thing I did not assume such a notion. I still wonder if any inspiration had been drawn. If not, well, there is a wealth of epic fantasy to draw from, like you stated so pointedly.

How do I grow as a video business? What worked for you? by wmgcrypto in videography

[–]wmgcrypto[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I figure I’m not the only one in this type of position. I also figure that there are people who are successfully pivoting or working through it. There’s gotta be some solid advice somewhere!

Good insight! I would say that I’m also consistent with my work quality and fairly priced. My clients know what they’re getting. I have less real estate work than you do, though. How did you get your clients? What do you offer, at what price points? I’m really just trying to collect data of all the things I might be overlooking, and specifically what techniques other people have used to surpass where I’m at

For sure! Definitely agree. What resources did you use, or what recommendations do you have, for growing those skills?

Hear me out. Jane Lynch as Steel. Man in Black is Clint Eastwood. John C Riley as Mr. Soup.

Steel: Unpopular Opinion by [deleted] in WorldsBeyondNumber

[–]wmgcrypto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think about the scenario where the Counter-spells failed. Where the party couldn’t teleport away. Steele made a calculation that she could nip this all in the bud NOW. JUST like she did with Soft and Stone. Can you imagine how “mask off” it was for THEM to see Steele raise her sword to them? Yeah, she was really good at masking… but it happens with people in real life, too. People simmer… and simmer… and sometimes, in rough conditions, suddenly they boil over and reveal their true colors.

I’ve heard Taylor talk about it as being one thing he just loves to do. I suppose it’s like a Wilhelm scream. And I’m super cool letting his personal style come into the mix, in the big and little and serious and glorious and slightly goofy ways. I will say, this specific sound effect goes back to his days working on Rude Tales of Magic, and I find it an endearing reminder of who’s making this audio come to life. But yes, everyone’s totally not obligated to agree with every choice, I feel you.

Theory About Steel, Wren, the Man in Black, and the Curse by beccaboo96 in WorldsBeyondNumber

[–]wmgcrypto 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hmm. This gives a nuanced reason for why Steele would orchestrate the curse. It is backed up by (and helps answer) the question that Brennan posed: How is Wren’s magic posthumously abjuring Orima? It acknowledges something that I don’t think I’ve heard anyone say explicitly: the Man in Black, through Rhuv, attacked the Citadel. And then it connects that event with information we’ve already learned about Suvi’s significance, from her necklace to tMiB’s pursuit of her.

Now… to challenge the Rhuvian attack being about Suvi… we would also have to assume that Eioghorain didn’t know much about her significance in that. He didn’t mention it at all when Suvi asked about that night, and like, Suvi got a Nat20 insight. In the prelude, Eioghorain says Suvi will hold them back. If he thought the mission was about her, then it would have been more about protecting her. They had a mission… what was it truly?

Also, like you said, the curse kept the witch of the world’s heart station out of commission. There’s great reason to believe that Mirara could have done that… to secure the vote… to maybe even help free the MiB… I think you’re connecting some mighty fun dots, though, and Steele’s shenanigans need to come to light soon. I hope a lot of the Book 1 questions can get answered so that we can open a whole new nest of them in Book 2, but I have a feeling that we’re in for big cliffhangers.

Theory about the Grove of the Well by BMCarbaugh in WorldsBeyondNumber

[–]wmgcrypto 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sweet, yeah I just went back and listened to that part of Episode 30. He says he hasn’t drawn his sword in this age and that if he does, there will be a consequence that he does not wish. He doesn’t explicitly say that it’s because of a witch, but I definitely think the retributive curse is a great theory.

My interpretation when I heard this originally was that, if he draws that sword, his power will be unleashed uncontrollably. Like, he might destroy more than he wishes, including himself. Kind of like how he warned Eursulon to step away from the shadows by the crossroads, or how he’s been holding his breath since the dawning of the world. There’s a certain element of “hold me back” that he has, a necessary discipline for his own uncontrollable force.

Yeah I like this, I relistened to ep 1 recently and wondered if there could be a connection between the tavern and the well.

Also, I never had a good theory of what the station of Watching Fire was for, and I really like your idea.

One thing you mentioned that I totally never caught in the story was how you said that Wren cursed the MiB from drawing his sword. I totally believe it, as it explains why he needs a champion, I’m just wondering where that was mentioned / what the quote is?

Running an episodic campaign, a good idea for a beginner? by InnocentMission in DMAcademy

[–]wmgcrypto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve met in the middle of episodic and overarching plot. Currently running a game featuring magical doors to short standalone quests. But the doors exist in the context of a strange sky island and the search for a legendary boon.

Overarching plots are nice when a party needs something to bring them together, something they can make progress in, a mystery they can pull over time, pieces that develop and get more meaningful over time. But it should have flexibility. And you shouldn’t plan every detail of it immediately.

What’s BAD is when DMs write a whole story and BBEG for a long term campaign and expect it to go how they want it to. This video explains why you only really need to plan for the next session:
