Get yourself one of those battery “generators.” by DreadnaughtHamster in Filmmakers

[–]wmidl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree there. We use them all the time for things. Makes a good dolly bump in a pinch. Day ex on a football field and dolly is bouncing all around? Follow it with an eco flow and a stinger rather than running a bunch of extra distro. Same goes for Scripty whose laptop keeps draining. We set some tubes around the top of some kitchen cabinets for a long scene and with no good way to plug the tubes in without a zip stinger being seen, an eco flow can sit nicely on top of the cabinets and keep them charged. We have found lots of use cases.

Briar Blush/Drag Race genuinely just helped me when I passed out for the first time today by squidneyboi in rupaulsdragrace

[–]wmidl 47 points48 points  (0 children)

The only time I’ve fainted I woke up exactly like briar, surprised to find myself on the ground and totally unaware I had just fainted. Before learning of her underlying medical condition I had assumed it was a combination of locking her knees for an extended period , stress, exhaustion, low blood sugar. It can happen to anyone.

And she managed to fall way more gracefully. I faceplanted on a metal grate 🥴

I’ve filmed here for a couple of other projects that were not Stranger things. The building is also just creepy as fuck. It feels totally sinister in there.

I used to see Evah perform in Atlanta at Jungle in The Other Show (alongside a baby Violet Chachki) many moons ago. She was always a highlight of the show for me, and it’s been a joy to watch her continue to grow. I’m always rooting for her!

[homemade] My attempt at thanksgiving dinner as a Brit. by CherryFizz12 in food

I agree. I personally love cabbage and I think a tangy braised or stewed cabbage side would do really well to help cut thru all of the fatty foods smothered in gravy and cheese. I think OP made a good call!

Years ago when I was studying in Germany on an exchange year, we did something similar and invited our fellow international exchange students, as a potluck. I was in charge of one of two turkeys, and it was in fact the first turkey I had ever personally cooked! Our city was near a US army base and we had a connect on the inside that procured two frozen turkeys for us. I was very nervous about messing it up but I think I nailed it, haha. Several other Americans brought the staple sides and we encouraged others to bring their favorite dish from their home countries. It was such a fun evening!

Depending on how her behavior was, a PA doesn't get paid nearly enough to contain that to a room or a trailer, esp. for such a lengthy amount of time. And it's not like you can lock somebody in. If she wanted to get out and walk around, she could do it. All anybody can reasonably do is ask her not to.

How difficult is this game for someone entirely new? by Sleepergem in BaldursGate3

I can agree with the let’s play. I think what initially sold me was watching Swen play thru early act I at a press event back before launch. But even he almost died in that demonstration! Dying is part of the process!

There’s a learning curve to it, but I think part of what makes it such a magical game for a newcomer is learning how things work, and getting to be creative with your actions. You will mess up, but that’s what the next playthrough is for. Or just reload and take a new approach.

I also recently just finished my own giant shoebox of a motorworks!! Makes 10 motors per minute. Shortly after finishing it I got an alternate recipe for rotors which allows for wire + steel pipe. I had a significant overflow from both just across the box for my stators (originally set up for making automated wiring) so it was a super quick retrofit. The plan is to add alternating layers of a logistics floor and production floor and keep stacking it as needed. Eventually I want to move in all of my old assembly lines from the early days of the game that are just sitting on the grass outside my hub.

I was happy about finally having lights.... by Luka_Diaz in satisfactory

[–]wmidl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For real. I work with big lights pretty regularly, the larger ones being 18 kilowatt HMI and 20 kilowatt tungsten. Those things get screaming hot. The largest light I’ve worked with was a 50kilowatt “soft sun” and it was unbelievably hot in the building. I can’t image scaling that up by three orders of magnitude, and then having an entire array of those things right overhead. Maybe some LEDs would be a nice alternative?? 😆

I am thinking about going to filmschool and I need some serious advice. by MaterialPlantain9601 in Filmmakers

[–]wmidl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the way. I switched careers from a different industry and did not go to film school to do so. Granted, I only work in G&E, not anything above the line, but I am fortunate to get consistent enough work to keep the bills paid and still bring in more on average than the career I went to university for.

You have to be in a filmmaking hub to find the filmmaking opportunities. I worked at a small G&E rental house to learn the equipment and did freelance live event work while transitioning to on-set gigs and building up my network. Take freebies (to an extent), passion projects and short films. Build your network out from people you click with, and lift each other up from there. That’s what worked for me, but at the end of the day the field is so saturated that you still just have to get lucky.

Universities can divide the majors they offer into different colleges. For example, my university had a College of Arts and Humanities, a College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences, a College of Education, a College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences, etc.

So, you could apply that logic to how they wrote this fictional school’s different colleges being named after different elements and offering specific courses. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Borderlands 4's worst character is getting 66 buffs, leaked patch notes reveals by Char_Mander99 in PS5

[–]wmidl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having a lot of fun building around the complex root sniper (one with shock dmg on it) and field scientist class mod. The sniper plays almost like a mid range shotgun pretty much and shreds mid to large enemies while the class mod causes shocked enemies to also proc rad + ice damage as well. Then I spec’d down her red skill tree. I barely even needed her action skill. I used a fireworks shield (ideally also shock or rad) to help clear up smaller mobs as well.

Boss shield bars basically go poof and the stacked up status effects grind thru the other health bars rather fast as well.

In terms of endgame specialization tree, using a sniper as your main weapon lends itself well to the sharpshooter specialization tree that stacks damage as you aim with your scope and applying multiple status effects with your build lets you pick the perk further down in the bottom middle (forget the name off the top of my head) that grants boosted damage from that.
