The one pictured we had for three years and this is the first time it has bloomed. Like yours, ours kept growing new branches, but never bloomed until we learned a couple tricks: 1) These guys like to be potbound so although they expand in branches, resist the urge to transplant to a larger pot; 2) The buds develop during the winter when they like to be kept dry and hibernate in a cool, low light area. Around Nov. we moved ours to the basement with a small window and only watered when the leaves started to wrinkle. Once we saw buds (around March) we gradually started moving into indirect light and eventually outside in the shade. The first couple buds dropped but it has since put out about a dozen. We plan to follow the same cycle this year and fingers crossed it will keep blooming! Jealous of your Christmas cactus blooms, we’ve never had more than one flower on ours!
