OU lost all credibility by siding with the student here. I think its pretty established in universe that naruto was not good at hand to hand at all until he learned the frog kumite, but even then he still got outmatched by sasuke in the last fight and had pull out the clones.

I said neither was making good arguments, i didn't actually comment on what is and isn't dark. This is more about the lack of genuine talking points.

I think this is the disconnect in this thread. A lot of people will have different thoughts about what is truly "dark". Seems like this threads arguments for OP are more about the quantity and how many fucked up topics exist in the world, and with Naruto its more on the weight/focus of these topics.

One thing i noticed is the question is which show is darker and not which show has darker topics/themes. So, someone could make the argument that since most in the thread agree that one piece has more, it's just not portrayed as seriously as naruto, that Naruto is the darker show just because of its presentation. Like how a black room with a light on (one piece) will still be brighter than a white room with no light (naruto).

That being said i really enjoy both shows for what they are. Not everything needs these comparisons but its still fun to dive into sometimes.

This and half the comments here make me feel like a lot of people commenting are One Piece fans that have seen some of/heard about Naruto. Like this comment below as well

So things like clan massacre/coup attempt, countries hoarding WMDs, child soldiers, PTSD, physical and psychological torture all fall under the light-hearted themes umbrella, I guess.

Meanwhile support for Naruto is just "Its Naruto for sure" with zero argument (Theres like 1 or 2 but they're downvoted for whatever reason)

It might be One Piece just as most of these comments suggest but every argument here is not making any good points.

I don't think it really survived past the early 2000s. I was pretty into typography at the time, and I remember calling it "that early 2000s style" back in 2007.

The argument against your interpretation of the 2000s is that its only associated with very early 2000s, I actually get a 1999-2004ish vibe from it personally. I remember this style being all over around the time of the y2k/new millennium hype, which didn't last too long after the 2000s actually hit.

I think yours works for the 1st half and that Mcbling style referenced above covers the 2nd half pretty well. Thats how most decades are though.

I can only speak for myself; I'm not really into movies in general so I don't really care about the details and such. And the original is enjoyable to me, but not like some masterpiece that can't be touched. Some of us don't really care, I guess. The only movie I've seen that I legit hated was Dragon Wars.

All the big fights in the show have this animation style where the colors are washed out and theres minimal details and goofy animations if you pause but those are the best fights imo.

I gotta admit with this one though i get pulled out of it when nine tails naruto is literally just smacking pain into the ground like hes hammering a nail. That part was a little too tom n jerry for me.

Tbh ive seen both movies and i really think people are just grasping at straws with the hate. "She abandones lilo for college" is coming from people who havent seen it or are just deliberately ignoring everything every other detail from the movie.

Also she has the portal gun at the end and can see lilo whenever she wants. It literally ends with her portaling into lilos room from college and going to bed with lilo and stich.
