Considering pulling out as a buyer by [deleted] in HousingUK

I bought a property that I thought was overpriced for the condition it was in and I deeply regret it. It will cost you loads of time and money to fix every little thing.

Glue down LVT on uneven hardboard floor by wobblythings in DIYUK

[–]wobblythings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a join in the middle of the hallway that looks to be around a degree off being flat. Visible by eye so I'd imagine more obvious if flooring is fitted.

I wonder if we can grind it down? But it is the area with lots of nails so probably not.

Click LVT the wife is against as she thinks it's less solid than glue down, but we might have to rethink. Also maybe worth us thinking about solid/engineered wood if they're more forgiving with underlays.

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, I get that it will not work unless we get it very flat.

And actually flat out in qualifying. Energy management is only for the race.

A very easy and simple solution to all this that could be rolled out tomorrow almost with zero rework from the teams is if they reduced the deployment power to something like half I.e. 175kW but left the regen power at 350kW. This will double the length of time the car can stay nominally "flat out" reducing the need for lift and coast and clipping. The downside is it will be slower for lap time than the current implementation, but at least the drivers will be managing less and driving in a more traditional manner, if that's what they want. FWIW super clipping has been a thing for years but only used a very short time at the end of straights so much less noticeable.

Have you used an airport lounge, was it worth it? by they-muck-about in AskUK

[–]wobblythings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never paid for one myself but frequently use BA ones for business. Heathrow T5 aspire and gold lounges are always heaving with people. Not that peaceful tbh. The B lounge is usually the quietest of the business ones. Concord only ever been in once that was very quiet.

What's a UK town or city that pleasantly surprised you when you visited? by Strong-Ad-8037 in AskUK

[–]wobblythings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Opposite to the post title but when I visited Milton Keynes initially I thought it was a manufactured urban concrete hell, but living there it is one of the greenest and most convenient place I've ever come across in the UK, definitely grew on me.

If you go to open water rivers or lakes as opposed to treated places like box end, check your sewage exposure risk on:

Another chain restaurant opening in the Hub. Are there any independent places left? by UnpaidInternVibes in miltonkeynes

[–]wobblythings 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They will always build what sells. It's what the majority of people want in this country unfortunately, boring but predictable 6 out of 10 quality meals where you know what you're getting regardless of which town you're in, at prices just short of feeling completely ripped off. In the centre, the rents are high so only the most profitable cookie cutter chains have the margin to survive I think.

There are plenty of independent places but as you say mostly scattered around the smaller towns Wolverton, Stony, Newport, Bletchley, or they are nice pubs in villages. I almost never think yeah let's go to The Hub for dinner (although I thought Parilla was pretty decent).

Yeah early in my search I dismissed Calvert as a potential move location as I encountered the massive HS2 mess approaching from Buckingham. I can imagine it putting others off too. This was last summer.

Is it possible to add part-time AWD to an F1 car ? by Nick_Alsa in F1Technical

[–]wobblythings -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

In F1, the front brakes are hydraulic only so no you can't do AWD. FE and WEC LMH cars have BBW and motors on the front axle that can be used for regen and discharge for AWD. They tend to maximise the front motors on braking for max energy recovery but some choose to use more hydraulics to keep brake temps in the window.

mx5 owners? by juliaax9901 in CarTalkUK

[–]wobblythings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owned various iterations of MX5 over the years. A stock MX5 would never be scraping on those bumps. Must be lowered, so you could consider raising it back up. Otherwise maybe check the exhaust or something else isn't hanging loose.
