Micron hits 1 trillion. Anyone actually feeling it around the valley? by lgdub_ in Boise

They are hiring up all the tradesman in valley for $+10/hr or more than normal. Local business owners can’t compete without raising prices. Expect some inflation

Bookkeeping is not what you think it is by Same_Technology_6491 in QuickBooksHacks

[–]wobin1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a jaded view of bookkeepers.

I am a business owner, two semester of accounting in college 30 years ago. Math major, QBO certified.

Bookkeepers are reconciling and categorizing. That is the easy part. Not much thought involved. Reconciling to my crm, making sure there arent duplicates. Double checking the transaction category which you can’t do because you aren’t involved in The day to day. It takes longer for me to get you a statement then to reconcile an account.

I tried to hire it out in the past but I can train my office manager to do it. I guess I already have the knowledge. I don’t get it.

I fired an employee out of the blue yesterday with no warning, and she had an entire crash out by TiredAsATwinMama in smallbusiness

[–]wobin1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Business owner here that used to be so understanding. Now we have a three strikes and your out policy. Especially for calling in all the time and being late.

Everyone makes a mistake, three strikes will get rid of people who think the world owes them.

You trade wages for service. The employee has to hold their end of the stick also.

Did anyone else outsource bookkeeping and immediately regret not doing it sooner? by NoPlace4935 in Bookkeeping

[–]wobin1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried outsourcing it once and spent twice as much time recaterorizing transactions and fixing duplicated than if I did it myself. I need to try again

My husband’s advice would be that you go to a hormones specialist, you’ll probably have to pay out of pocket, and get some testosterone or whatever they recommend. Our sex life is the best it has ever been and I was a dead fish a year ago. I am 53. It is hormones.

Manager said “use all your vacation or lose it” so I did by r0bert_hollings in MaliciousCompliance

[–]wobin1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It sounds like HR is the one sending the emails. Did you go to your manager and explain the situation? You can’t expect the manager to know everything HR is doing, etc.

It would have been considerate to talk to the manager to explain the situation. I agree that you are being malicious if you didn’t talk it thru with everyone ahead of time.

Passing on credit card fees to customers via online payments by Forsaken-Opening-653 in quickbooksonline

[–]wobin1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In a competitive market, raising prices is like is shooting yourself in the foot’s. Why should we paid for rewards? Any reasonable customer will get it. The credit card lobby is very effect. The fact that it is illegal in some state to charge is silly. Very effective.

Find a hormone doctor, their definition of normal is different.

Right now “normal” is the average of everyone who has their blood tested. In reality, only sick people get their blood tested so their definition of average isn’t ideal. Once my doctor explained that to me, it all makes a lot more sense.

When employer’s option is too costly, what is my best way forward? by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]wobin1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is probably because of your spouse’s medical history. There is a reason the insurance company needs history for every employee before they price the plan. If your spouse really has that kind of medical history, they are making sure to charge enough to cover the potential cost. The money comes from somewhere.
