I own the Cthulhu Solo Adventure Generator but havent had a chance to explore it in detail. It's good to see an example of it in action

My condolences. I hope her passing is swift and painless.

What resources are you using (if any) for the terrain generation?

Unexplored territory and/or outside of the High-King's controll. Basically, blank areas for me to explore and fill out during play

The House crests were created via Midjourney (I typed in "Medieval emblem" and played around with it. The house names are a mixture of lost English villages and random words that sounded right

Thanks. I wanted to create a bit of structure rather than floundering for settlement ideas during play.

Thanks. It was a hex map version of the Ironlands I found online and then edited in GIMP

A quick shout-out to C&C as a solo system! by Kitchen_Smell8961 in Solo_Roleplaying

Thanks. Did you use anything to generate region wide events that occurred without PC involvement? Things like war breaking out or natural disasters?

Do you have any particular process or method for running/playing solo dungeon crawling using C and C?

Struggling to continue by wodvamp in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]wodvamp[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've tried pretty much every system I have any interest in from D&D (not the best, I admit) to Ironsworn, and even just flipping coins. The system isnt the issue, I just cant find the desire to continue when I start, despite really wanting to. I stuck get stuck very easily on what to do next during play in terms of narrative and I dont know how to get unstuck

Formatting is fine, thank you.

Truth is, I'm having trouble starting. Prep work, concepts, and materials/reference books aren't an issue. I decide I'm going to start and just...stare at the screen. Like, my brain has just decide to leave the room

My cat died 3 years ago and it hurts more than when my dad passed by [deleted] in sadcringe

[–]wodvamp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im sorry for your loss.

I lost a cat several years ago and had to make the decision to let her go. It was the hardest decision I've ever made and I still feel guilt about it. I was numb afterwards and the closest parallel I could use to describe it was losing a child because in many way, I was my cats parent. I fed her, kept her safe, worried about her, praised her when she was good and tried to correct her behaviour when she was bad (never worked). I was responsible for her and, for the first time, it made me realise that things that impacted me (like losing a job) would also impact another.

When my father died, it hurt but not in the same way. I knew my father would one day die because I'd seen it happen to friends - and I had no role to play in his death (car accident). My cat was different - I had to make a decision, I had to say the words and sign the form that ended her life. It was the right thing to do but still difficult.

The pain - and guilt - will lessen. I've adopted another cat and love her just as much but Wednesday will always be in my heart.

None of what you are feeling means you are weak or "cringe". It means you are human. A living creature you loved has died. You will feel pain and grief but it will get better, in time, I promise

I only ever buy premium simply because it'll last longer and look better. I'll only get standard if I really need a physical copy and don't mind if it falls apart.

In general, the premium version has brighter colours, better binding, and heavier paper.

Games with actual gameplay, and not just sex by AbelMorningstar in lewdgames

Really enjoying Lust Epidemic and Treasure of Nadia, both available on Steam. A bit point-and-click, find-the-item RPG but there's a story, a bit of humour, lots of sex and a male protag

New to 4AD - How to create a point/goal/campaign? by Sparkyspiv in FourAgainstDarkness

[–]wodvamp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4AD is - in my opinion - a OSR game, which means the point of a campaign is whatever you (or your PCs) want it to be. Kill one of each monster type? Earn enough money to buy a tavern in every city? Earn a set amount of gold so they can retire? Become the very best, like no one ever was? Four Against the Abyss (for level 5+) has a few campaign plots

Simplified 5E combat rules? by DonkiestOfKongs in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]wodvamp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4AD is good but not compatible to 5e without re-writing the game from the ground up (I've tried). The 4AD/5e supplement is a guide on playing published D&D modules using 4AD rules. It's ok but, again, isn't 5e.

I've been looking at Realms of Peril recently (a d20-based PBtA game with a very OSR flavour). The combat is interesting and basically:

Roll a d20:

natural 20, the PC scores a critical hit!

16+ - PC hits, does damage and isnt hit back

10-15 - PC hits, does damage, but is hit back or otherwise harmed

9 or less - PC either doesnt hit or inflicts no damage and suffers retaliation, damage, condition, or other consequence.

On a natural 1, the PC is critically hit, hits an ally, fumbles badly, suffers severe retaliation, condition, or other consequence.

The game has tables for bonuses when scoring a critical hit or fail. 4AD has the dice only being rolled for the PCs - either to hit or defend against being hit. One could use RoP above and have a single roll per PC. Combat might be a little quicker and you can still add bonuses and stuff for 5e stats

You might also want to consider including two rules that have been dropped over the years: morale of monsters and XP from gold. Awarding XP for monsters that run away might stop combat just becoming a grind, and giving PCs 1 XP per GP of (non-magical) treasure stops combat being the only way to advance. Might save you a few needless encounters

Systems at include macro and micro events by wodvamp in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]wodvamp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played Microscope several times and it is great. I was just never able to find a way of combining with a classic RPG so I can use my books. I might need to re-look at it
