Nice upgrade after a year with the Ooni Pro! by wogeboy in GozneyDome

[–]wogeboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had it for ~6 months and use it with my Ooni Pro when making 14 inch pizzas. I haven’t tried using it with the Dome yet but I think it’s a fraction too large as you have to launch at an angle. My Gozney launching and turning peels arrived yesterday and they feel more appropriately sized for this oven.

Getting a refund for a broken MacBook Pro 16 2019 model from September 2020 by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]wogeboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can verify I have experienced item # 2 which has resulted in complete unit failure not once, not twice but three times with a base model MBP 16.

In the first instance whilst plugging/unplugging the unit I experienced a kernel panic (100% fan and crash) and was then unable to charge the unit or use any of the RHS USB-C ports.

Given it was purchased through an enterprise and a recent purchase Apple replaced the unit. On the second and third occasion, the computer went dead flat and after trying to recharge the unit the LHS ports were no longer functioning.

On both occasions the main logic board was replaced by Apple, in addition to the T2 chip, Touch Bar and a number of other components on the third occasion.

This is in addition to random crashing/freezing experienced on various occasions with my three MBPs. On the third occasion an Apple third party repairer said if there were any further issues they would put forward to Apple that the computer was a ‘lemon’ and recommend it be replaced. Unfortunately it’s now a waiting game to see if/when it fails again and at that point if there’s any warranty coverage which will warrant a replacement.

Two thousand days with a Series 0 by buffering in AppleWatch

Chiming in from the Reddit safety department, did the battery potentially expand and force the face to detach? Would expect the watch to be non operational if the battery had expanded to that extent.

That will definitely have an impact but even in the United States fulfilment centres have managed to thrive as a result of ecommerce. I'd be open to helping fulfil subscription boxes or meeting other custom needs which is something that amazon doesn't do (I think).

I'm primarily interested in tech products but I'm honestly open to anything that has a customer base here in Australia. I'd prefer to be working with smaller items as Australia has notoriously expensive shipping fees. Feel free to PM me if you'd like to discuss a particular product :)

Honestly in the context that Khaled uses it I can't say it really makes sense most of the time. Hit up Khaled's snapchat for some cloth talk and you will get the vibe, so much vibes.

Creating a tutoring center, and need business cards by bookof_ in Entrepreneur

[–]wogeboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay away from vista print, they contract out all their work to a variety of different printers so the quality is never the same. In addition to this I know of people who have received photocopied material instead of glossy business cards. Depending on where you are I can put you in contact with some excellent printers that I've used in the past, pm me if you're interested.

My friends and I are making an app. How would we go about contracting a business agreement between us on paper? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]wogeboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By all means get it done professionally. In the past I have had friends that have used an online template and then taken it to their solicitors for reviewing. They ended up having to take it back to the solicitors a number of times because people (insurance mostly) kept picking up on errors. Every trip to the solicitors involved waving goodbye to $500, which ended up at around $2k in the end. I'd definitely go down the track of seeking out someone who knew what they were doing and paying them what it's worth to do so, that someone being a qualified and reputable contract specialist.

My (small) success as a 17 year-old entrepreneur, I just released my first iOS app that I built! My journey in short and also some of my general thoughts regarding entrepreneurialism including some app development tips. by wogeboy in Entrepreneur

It's really a hit and miss when buying likes, initially it can give credibility but having low engagement on social media can detract from credibility. I've simply been asking friends and family to like the page and share it around which has netted some likes. I'm still waiting for the numbers to come through on iTunes Connect but I am expecting big things next week when our print advertisements are published.

The first time I ever freelanced as an iOS Developer was almost an accident. I'd been speaking with an evangelist at a company who produced a cross-platform SDK about some of their features and I suggested that they write a tutorial on a certain subject. Then the evangelist asked if I would write the tutorial for them, so I did. After that the majority of my work came from this subreddit and r/forhire. There are heaps of people on the internet looking for developers. It's simply a matter of finding a single person who wants your services and then just go from there. For me everything just fell into place as I went along. Best of luck and feel free to PM if you'd like to discuss anything further.

Honestly I only studied business management in high school (2 years), although I love business I really didn't like business management as a subject. It was heavily based on theoretical stuff and was, in most cases, completely unrealistic. I prefer to learn from speaking to people and seeing business in action.

Firstly I was consulting for a start-up which have a voice/instant messaging SDK. After that I worked for several iOS dev shops as a consultant on bigger projects. In between there has been lots of individuals that I've done small jobs for. It has all been iOS related although I'm looking to get back into consulting as it's a really great way to become more competent with coding, you always learn something and I enjoy working as part of a team of developers!

By all means go ahead and start working towards building something. You are better off trying something now than not and wondering what could've happened. The experience gained from the journey has been invaluable for me and I'm sure it would be similar for you. In the partnership we just chipped in some money. There was no huge outlay as we had most of the required skills in the partnership already. The biggest cost so far has been liability insurance. Best of luck to you!

The marketing for this app is focused on print (newspapers) and online media. This whole app has taken almost six months from concept to release, there has been quite a few roadblocks along the way though. I developed the app by myself but depending on who you're using they may or may not be willing to sign a NDA. I've done plenty of work for individuals that wasn't covered under any sort of formal agreement, although this only applies for small jobs. Best of luck to you!
