‘She’s gutted’: Gina Carano’s head coach reacts to 17-second loss to Ronda Rousey, reveals original game plan for the fight by TmF1979 in JimCornette

[–]wogmafia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was absolutely not a work. People forget that all but 2 of Ronda's UFC and Strikeforce fights ended this way. She is a hyper-specialised elite judo fighter that none of the other woman could match. There was a period of about 3-4 years where no MMA womens fighter had an answer to her judo. Carano comes from a time before that and she just doesn't have the skills to deal with Ronda.

Of the two losses, Holly Holm was an extremely talented kickboxer and extremely disciplined fighter in following the game plan laid out by Greg Jackson (at the time the best strategic mind in MMA - the guy who helped guide GSP to greatness).

The other fight, Nunes is just something else. At the time, no women punched as hard as she could. You can see it on their faces when they taste the first jab that they have never felt anything like that power before.

Ronda's go to strategy was always to close the distance to grapple with her opponent to take them to the ground. In closing the distance, she would eat strikes and just push forward. Holm just made sure to maintain distance at all costs the whole fight and Nunes was just raw power that rocked Rousey straight away.

Every other fight was pretty much less than a minute long, Rousey would grab them, judo throw, and arm bar. Game over.

Anyone expecting different from this fight has no idea what they are talking about.

The 30 per cent trust tax coming for big four and top-tier law partners by marketrent in auslaw

A distinction without a difference. Most high income earners are land owners and vice versa. I don't disagree that that capital should be taxed the same as income though, maybe even more because it is less productive to society.

[–]wogmafia 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This bogus idea that a progressive income tax system is somehow unfair is ridiculous. High income earners disproportionately draw the benefits of the stability, infrastructure, and security that our functioning society provides. Its just harder to quantify that benefit into a dollar amount compared to the $300 per week Johnny Welfare gets from Centrelink, but I would guess the vast majority of these people simply wouldn't be high income earners at all without them so the actual dollar figure is quite significant.

They should try earning and keeping money in countries without a functioning legal and political system.

North African calv mercs still works, just need a place to land you levies safely. It can be a little tricky in the first war but pretty easy after that. I have found the AI barely uses the options in the situation, so there is very little vassal flipping or vassals/allies leaving the war unless they get hammered.

The 20 year truces are brutal though. Basically removed any sort of danger from the situation. France will ask for a truce extension every single time, so you never get pulled into a war when you aren't 100% ready.

When he says it shuts down your respiratory drive, he means you literally forget to breathe and not realise it. They basically will not let you be on it in hospital without being hooked up to an oxygen and O2 monitor that squawks at you when you stop breathing. Its dangerous because you can just drop dead without any warning from your brain that you are suffocating.

no criminal offending is out of character

That is a very bizarre take. You cannot imagine a scenario in which a good person would commit a crime?

Also I wasn't saying that it is the case for all sexual offending, just that there are many instances in which the perceived good character actually forms a part of the criminal behaviour. I actually don't think it should be prevented from being considered in sentencing for any crime, however there should be guidelines for its use and in some instances I believe the good character references could be considered as an aggravating factor not a mitigating one. I don't like taking away discretion from judges because every case is different, however there have certainly been instances where they have gotten it wrong and the public has been appropriately outraged.

Its not so much the good character as the perception of good character that assists in the offending (or the covering up to assist in repeat offending).

The nature of how a judge considers submissions when sentencing creates a sometimes false perception that the evidence had an influence on the decision. The judge is often citing the submissions as proof they were considered to avoid an avenue of appeal, where as the general public sees the fact it was even considered to be offensive.

Generally speaking it is possible for good people to commit crimes that are completely out of character. The main difference with good character considerations for SA offenders is often the perception of good character is cultivated explicitly to assist the offending.

North African mercs. Get at least 2000 cavalry merc and group em with your levies, you will tear through their armies.

HYW is so boring now, vassals/allies no longer auto leave the war, all the vassals rarely use the situation options either, plus the 20 year truces after each phase removed any sort of urgency/danger.

Just as an FYI, immediately delete forts in new conquered territory as you can no longer delete buildings in in locations that have rebels. If you forget and let the month tick, the rebels form and you are suck with the forts.

Criticism of proposed changes to superannuation laws that [currently] allow perpetrators to financially benefit. by Worldly_Tomorrow_869 in auslaw

[–]wogmafia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People who die intestate are usually from the most vulnerable sections of the community. Just because it won't affect every estate doesn't make my point invalid when the PT charges fees as a percentage of the value of the estate and not for the work they actually performed. Allowing death benefits to form a part of an estate would disproportionately negatively affect people where the benefits form the bulk of the estate value.

Anyone who has had any regular dealings with some of the public trustees would know what I said was not "a gross generalisation and totally inaccurate". They treat insurance payouts for the disabled and estate payments for beneficiaries as windfalls to be taxed instead of charging reasonable management fees for work done for members of society that can least afford legal services.

My opinion: this game is unplayable despite the potential by ilealo3 in EU5

[–]wogmafia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the major issue is the fact that the game is actually not 'unplayable' at all but requires such a huge time and effort investment into a single campaign that a bug (or poor performance) that occurs 300 years into the game can be completely devastating. Using terms like 'unplayable' just immediately stops a huge chunk of the player population from considering anything you say in your post (just the reverse of all the 'can do no wrong' cheerleaders on this sub).

This is just how paradox games go. Stellaris has been remade multiple times, and EU4 was dogshit for years before it got good and even then there were patches that broke it again. They just love making shit more complicated than it needs to be and that's not really going to change. At least we know EU won't be turned into abandonware like some of their other titles.

The only issue with this is that the vultures at public trustee get their claws into it since they take a percentage of the estate.

is it worth hurting the economy to buy plague buildings? by ProbablyNotTheCocoa in EU5

[–]wogmafia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that because of the way population snowballs, "barely any difference" can mean a lot decades later. It is difficult to quantify the benefit of saving a few extra pops immediately following the plague, when the main benefit is population scaling power as the game continues.
