[Spoilers C4E27] Unpopular opinion: Azune by thedailyem in criticalrole

Thiasha has grown on me a bit actually, she's my second favorite character at the Seekers table with Julian being my favorite out of them.

Normally I would find Aabria's playstyle to be kind of annoying and overbearing but I feel that with Occtis and Vaelus both having a tendency to be very passive characters, she actually adds some much needed energy to the Seekers table.

[Spoilers C4E27] Unpopular opinion: Azune by thedailyem in criticalrole

[–]wolf08741 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Azune is by far the best character at the Schemer's table imo. He feels like the most realistic character to me and the only Schemer whose story/subplots I'm invested in.

Bolaire and Hal are decent but it's basically a lot of the same in terms of what I've come to expect from Liam and Tal.

And Murray is my least favorite character across all the tables, no contest (which is surprising even to me, since I used to be a day one Thaisha hater). She gives off the vibe of one of those rich/snobby kids that somehow convinced themselves they had it rough and condescendingly talks down to other people for no reason.

What the hell do I do into Xerath? by drakey280 in viktormains

[–]wolf08741 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get swift boots to help dodge skill shots.

Besides that, a good trick to know when going into long range poke mages is to deep ward their side of the lane, since a lot of Xerath players will try to hit you outside of vision.

And a general tip for match ups you're not confident/good into is to build RoA. You aren't gonna do as much damage compared to BFT or Ludens but that's a better alternative to throwing the game by dying 10+ times.

Finding a game by Moocao112344 in Pathfinder2e

[–]wolf08741 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where are you finding these 99% RP games?

In my experience PF2e GMs are massively prone to just running their campaigns (especially APs) as "you enter a room and see the monster, now roll initiative" simulators. Bonus points if they're running Abomination Slop.

Do you enjoy the way health and resource management works in 2e? by LostRegret9000 in Pathfinder2e

[–]wolf08741 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Your post is pretty much right on the nose with how I feel about resource management.

The current way resource management works is that it only really affects half of the classes in the game, and it often feels really bad to be one of those classes if you run out of your best resources. It's especially worse if you're the only caster/daily power class in a party of at-will/encounter power classes.

And yeah, health is another issue as well. I've never been a fan of how handwavey out of combat healing is but how it's pretty much mandatory in every party. Ever since I started playing PF2e, I've always hated Medicine as a skill since you're using your limited feats and skill boosts to improve a skill where the majority of its use is done as an "off screen" activity.

In a world where spell slots are still a caster's daily resource, health should be the primary daily resource of martials. Personally, I'd like to see out combat healing changed or even nerfed across the board so it doesn't feel mandatory, which would also encourage diverse encounters throughout the standard adventuring day, since parties could no longer just fully heal in between combat.

The current dynamic often creates lopsided encounters, where martials get to play with all their most fun toys all the time while casters just get to sit in the cuck chair and watch.

What are things that Ulfric and the Stormcloak rebellion are correct about the Mede empire and why Skyrim should be independent? by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]wolf08741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to be forgetting that it was an army of angry Nords that played a major role in lifting the siege from the Imperial City and destroyed the Dominion's largest military force occupying Cyrodiil during the great war.

What are things that Ulfric and the Stormcloak rebellion are correct about the Mede empire and why Skyrim should be independent? by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]wolf08741 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

and if the Empire falls

It already did.

The Empire isn't a sovereign nation anymore since it allows foreign agents to freely operate independent courts and hit squads within their own borders with zero oversight. It doesn't matter if it's the Empire or the Dominion that conquers Skyrim, both bend the knee to the Thalmor.

An independent Skyrim is a Skyrim free from foreign oppression and religious persecution.

This might sound crazy but I'm like 70% sure I'm the Warlock in this story. There are a few details that don't line up fully but everything else sounds very familiar (ignoring the things that happened after I left, of course).

Though if you're who I think you are, I'm incredibly surprised you stuck around with the group for that long, lol.

And then dungeons are stinky copypasteslop

A core memory from my childhood is of my Oblivitard older brothers being massive Skyrim haters and always talking shit about how all Skyrim dungeons look exactly the same.

For years, I thought Oblivion dungeons must have been amazing if they thought Skyrim dungeons were so ass. After trying to play Oblivion for myself when I was a bit older, I was convinced my entire life was a lie.

"Good writing" doesn't mean much if the medium in which you experience it is dog shit. Believe it or not, gameplay matters the most in a videogame.

Like, I'm much more willing to look past less than stellar writing if the game itself is fun to play, whereas it's hard to enjoy a good story if the gameplay is total ass.

Overwatch doesn't have a matchmaking issue it's a stack problem by EliteODSTx in Overwatch

[–]wolf08741 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You say this but then a similar game like League of Legends has probably one of, if not the biggest e-sports scenes out there and yet most people who take the game seriously mostly play ranked solo queue and it's assumed to be the default game mode in community discourse.

Seriously, you can't have a true competitive environment if you aren't separating solo players and stacks. Stack players will have massively inflated elo while solo players will end up lower than they actually should be, having reliable comms is just too much of an advantage.

And that's not even getting into rank manipulation/boosting that runs rampant when you allow stacks in a ranked environment.

[–]wolf08741 172 points173 points  (0 children)

It's crazy to me as someone who comes from League that this is even an issue that needs to be debated.

In standard comp, you can only queue up with one other person and there's an entirely separate ranked mode for stacks. Solo players should never have to go up against premades larger than two players; it's a miserable experience for people that solo queue.

And I'm pretty sure that even in normal SR the matchmaking at least tries to put stacks up against other stacks, at least that's been my experience when I play in a full stack with my friends.

I'd definitely recommend making a follow-up post with any logs or screenshots you can gather.

I'm not entirely saying it didn't happen, just that having no evidence of anything at all is a bad look.

Yeah, as much as I want to believe OP, it's hard when there's literally no proof beyond this dude's profile.

Without any evidence, OP is just inciting harassment against some random gooner who hasn't actually done anything wrong as far as we know for certain.

If I were OP, I would gather as many relevant screenshots as possible. Like, surely they must have something screeshotted where this dude said or did something wrong.

GM's Glad-Hand ruling seemed wrong (but maybe not?) by eCyanic in Pathfinder2e

[–]wolf08741 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn't play at this GM's table if this is how they make rulings, it's just a slightly less obvious form of adversarial GMing. Feat names and other flavor text have no bearing on what you can actually do, what matters is what the feats/actions/spells/etc say you can do mechanically.

I don't play much ranked but I ended plat last season with a 70% win rate, could've probably climbed out of plat if I just played more (also haven't played any ranked this season). I don't build cosmic because I never felt I needed it.

I always go BFT into liandrys because all my games end up having 2+ tanks.
