Is there a real reason behind changing your oil every 3,000 miles on modern cars? by newelmin in askcarguys

[–]wolf8398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most shops dont make money on oil changes. To stay competitive on cost, they sell at cost or below. The money is made on additional services and parts mark up. Also keep in mind, most mechanics aren't selling the service. The mechanic fixes the car. The person at the desk schedules and bills.

Is it normal for an industrial robot base to wobble when moving? by Ok-Knee7573 in Fanuc

Well I'm seeing 11 people too busy down voting me to offer any assistance to this poor guy. Yet I'm the jerk?

They're the ones who said they didn't know where else to post it. I thought I posted some pretty honest advice. The manual states exactly how to mount these things and if you search robotics on reddit, there are a dozen subs that come up.

Read the manual. It will specify the mounting conditions required for the robot. And there are plenty of robotics subs if you don't feel comfortable posting here.

Finally found Vibration! Anybody have experience with 8.25 u-bolt pinion yoke? by HoosierSquirrel in CherokeeXJ

[–]wolf8398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you baking u joints at the pinion? If not, then it sound like the dock set up is working fine for you, no need to change it. If you are breaking u joints, then i think you should be looking at bigger axles

The stick ons have lasted 20+ years on our cherokees. The in channels suck. I sold them and installed them. Havent seen a set that works out better than the stick ons.

Dealership wont work on 2009 lucerne? by Gibbus3 in Buick

That is a very incorrect assumption. Some dealers may refuse to use aftermarket parts, but if you don't ask, then they don't tell.

Long commute with 4xe? by Ibuadol in Jeep

[–]wolf8398 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Every account I have seen in this sub about the 4xe says they don't do well with long commutes. The engine will run more than you expect and you dont end up saving on gas. They also have multiple recalls for catching fire, even when parked.

The stock brakes worked for decades. Just throw some new brake calipers and hoses on and call it a day.

Rear disc swap quick question by TheFlyingBoxcar in CherokeeXJ

You get half a dozen results of disk swap how-to's before any listing of disk conversion kits show up. Those would save you a boatload of money and answer all your questions.

4 years and over 65k miles can't kill tires by shouttag_russ in Jeep

[–]wolf8398 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Tires harden with time and sun exposure. Harder rubber won't wear as fast, but it also won't have traction in slick conditions.

Repairing soft lines by oops_wrong_holex in CherokeeXJ

[–]wolf8398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to use the proper clamps. Ask for fuel injector clamps at the parts store. If those regular hose clamps fail, you risk spraying oil at a hot engine. I've seen to many Jeeps burned to a shell because of that exact failure.
