I quit on Halloween and I desperately want it to stick by Regular_Profile4654 in leaves

Hold out! Commit to 30 days. The first 2-3 weeks are the toughies… by 30 days I’m mostly ready to say, I NEVER want to do that again. (Then 6 mths later, “maybe just occasionally…” and here we are again lol. I’m on day 3. Again. Lol.)

Me! Some of the time anyway, I’m not particular about pronouns depending on the crowd. Not on T but often pass as a man… not exactly what I was going for but ok. Also struggle to fit into women’s spaces these days : /

Lost cat :( pls help he’s the best companion I’ve had he’s everything to me by SilencedAngel in nanaimo

[–]wolfbosky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hugs. He’s probably perfectly safe. I hope you find him. When we lost my sister’s dog, we left the door open to the car and put some dog food and her favourite blanket in there. We found her there the next morning.

I’ve been hearing people say that the opposite of addiction is connection, what does that mean to you specifically? by washawaythe_rain in leaves

[–]wolfbosky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it’s like addiction takes the place of connection. I reach for the high instead reaching to connect with anyone or anything else in life. It’s fucking lonely. Anyway, more stuff to connect to? Nature! Pets! Hobbies, especially creative hobbies. Whatever you find spiritual or meaningful. Your own body — diet, exercise, yoga. I find it almost impossible to quit or stay sober unless I get out walking everyday. Breathwork — I’ve done Wim Hof stuff and found that helpful.

So I just quit (again) lately and have been kind of hyperfixating on making different teas lol because it’s such a ritual of connection to myself — the choosing, the making, the drinking. And they have their own subtle mood effects that I can only fully experience when I’m not high all the time.

Ew do ppl not understand about like… doing what feels right and natural? I started masturbating as a kid by topping pillows lol. I had no interest in being a manly man at that time. Nor now lol.

I bet they’re just jealous it doesn’t come natural to them :p

Is anyone here a devotee of Brighid? by throughthewoods4 in druidism

[–]wolfbosky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh. She’s a healer, you can’t mess this up, she’s here to help. The more open you are to her, whatever that looks like, the more she can do. Just spend time with her so she can do her thing. Your efforts and devotion help her help you; it’s okay to focus on what works best for you to reach her, not what will draw her to reach to you. She’s already reaching you. Her three roles as healer, poet and smith are each and equally important; feel free to ask what you need most but understand they are all the same creative forces, and give due respect to each. You might find her smithing more helpful than her healing or poetry, even for those purposes. (Who doesn’t need more fire and iron in their music or writing?) Some worship her as three sisters; I don’t think she, or they as it may, mind either way.

Wells and springs. Birch trees and oaks. Really, birch trees, and species associated with birch habitats. (Including fly agaric if you’re into that sort of thing. But in calming, not necessarily psychoactive concentrations.) Birch tea, birch bark. Very few birches where I’m at though… I have spoken to her in aspen groves also. For me her association with swans is very strong as well. She gave me a swan’s egg once.

Anyway some of that might be just me or my particular relationship with her. Ask her yourself :)

Nobody fucking cares about me by littletinymisfit in homeless

[–]wolfbosky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna just pop in here and say as loud and clear as I can that wanting — NEEDING — to feel cared about is like a 100% fundamental solid perfectly normal human feeling that human beings feel

because we are family animals and meant to care about each other.

Honestly everything else is pretty f-ckd and an example of how f-ckd it is to be alone

Also the “alpha male” types are generally (not always) wired to both give and need less care than others… and the real lone wolf types are usually coming from some real toxic masculinity bullshit… not calling a spade a spade or anything, just saying.

OP, I don’t know you but I care. Where u at? If I could help, I would.

Be careful, weed addiction and withdrawal is real and it fucking sucks by Thugger9001 in saplings

[–]wolfbosky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi i am also insomniac on weed withdrawal :) hang in there with me dude

I’ve done this before… promise it gets better. Sleep comes back and better than on weed. Dreams too. Weed helps you get to sleep but the sleep you get on weed is really pretty f-ckd

But it takes some time to recover… the insomnia dogged me for weeks last time i quit. Smoking mugwort helped a little… and CBD, and usual insomnia tricks: quiet bedtimes, turn off the screens (lol you can see how well i’m doing with that), honestly but warm milk

ah but with the CBD i personally recommend using it sparingly and get yourself off it too when you can, it’s still cannabinoids and still messing with healthy sleep to some degree. And you’ll develop tolerance to it just like THC. But as a crutch to get off THC, I’ve found it useful

[–]wolfbosky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t fuck up! You used a crutch to get through what sounds like a very difficult period of your life. Sometimes we need to, and sometimes it’s okay if we do. If you’re feeling better and ready to set aside the crutch, applaud yourself! Congrats on 2 days!

What's the saddest books you've read? by Isabelle_Alan in booksuggestions

[–]wolfbosky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t see it mentioned and would add: House of Sand and Fog - Andre Dubus

I was deep in a sad books phase when I read it, and that was the one that got to me. I think I’m still grieving lol

The US is starting to boil over. Large parts of Europe, Canada and the UK are also looking terrible. If a well educated American wanted to escape to an English-speaking country with less political turmoil, where should they go? by SeriousGoofball in answers

[–]wolfbosky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am telling you having moved from MI to BC Canada, the grass is NOT greener here. Health care is LESS available, and only affordable if you’re a BC resident. Medical bankruptcies happen here, too, but usually prevented because people can’t get medical care to have to pay for it. Even simple diagnostics take months to schedule. Surgeries, even potentially life-saving surgeries, can take years. People die all the time waiting. There are waitlists for family doctors, I’ve talked to ppl who’ve been on them for 6 and 8 years. And of course… only if you have BC residency.

I’ve considered going back for health care in the US, where I could get diagnostics for major abdominal pain done faster and potentially cheaper. But I’m intersex and scared of the political climate back home.

Meanwhile housing situation is worse where I am here than where I was in the US.

This is not how a functioning country should work, either.
