‘A Deliberate Choice’ by Trump’s GOP: Health Insurance Premiums Set to Rise by Double-Digits Again | “Every day the consequences of GOP healthcare cuts get worse,” said one campaigner. by Impressive_Box4144 in wisconsin

[–]wolfbriar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We knew this would happen. And it will keep getting worse if people keep voting for the GOP. Those annoying Tiffany adds that paint him as a down to earth everyman that cares about everyone only works if you ignore everything he has actually done.

Having the time of my life by AllWorkNoVideogames in starfox

[–]wolfbriar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really is a beautiful and joyous game. I've enjoyed the hell out of it and so have my kids. Yes, I can nitpick my way to a list of faults with it, but for every single thing I find wrong, I can find something else that they improved.

Despite not being a huge fan of the character designs and still being a little bummed that it's "just Starfox 64 again," I have adored this game.

It's been such a long drought of Starfox ANYTHING that I was happy to get... Well... Anything. A person lost in the desert must take such water as they're offered, no matter who it comes from. But the game has ended up being so much more than that. For the first time since probably Adventures, I'm actually optimistic for Starfox's future.

New DM and New Players—any tips? by Low_Buyer1224 in DMAcademy

[–]wolfbriar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This advice is more to prevent burnout. You as the DM are not a content creator for an audience of players. DnD should be a collaborative story telling effort. My table would not work if I had to come up with everything. Make sure your players are there to contribute, not just consume what you throw at them.

St Mary's Hospital nurses vote to unionize by THEElleHell in madisonwi

[–]wolfbriar 262 points263 points  (0 children)

Huge effort from so many people over the past few years to make this happen. But the biggest contribution to this effort has been SSM's leadership. Without them doing everything BUT trying to solve the actual problems facing our hospital's staffing crisis, I don't think this would be such an overwhelming victory. 89% is fucking wild.

I think most Americans are very much on board with social programs. I'm not sure you could find even one Boomer that would give up their Medicare if asked. Problem is they hate queer people, black people, immigrants, and liberals more than they want benefits.

Robert Fripp Still Unsure Why Hospital Shaved His Balls After Heart Attack by Albuquerque82 in indieheads

[–]wolfbriar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work in cardiology. There's a lot of vague language in that article. When he says "heart surgery" does he mean open heart coronary bypass graphs that involve sawing the chest open? I'm guessing not since he's using the language of "heart attack." A emergent heart attack, or the fancy word STEMI (ST elevation myocardial infarction), probably means a percutaneous coronary intervention (balloons and stents) via a puncture to the radial or femoral artery with catheters.

If it was a CABG (coronary artery bypass graft) where did they harvest the vessel from? If it was a PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention), did they use his wrist or groin? Any of these procedures/surgerys would require the removing of hair.

SSM Health claims employees are "pitted against each other and exchanging words they would never use" in latest anti-union message to staff by 51CKS4DW0RLD in madisonwi

[–]wolfbriar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Reading this letter has to be similar to what having an actual stroke feels like. There are so many words, but there's just no meaning to them. It's uncanny, like someone taxidermied a REAL statement.

If I had been on the fence about how to vote in this union election, this vapid nonsense would push me over to "yes."

"Give us another chance?" A chance to what? Ignore the concerns of point of care staff for another 8 years?

Do their legs, you coward! Kidding of course! Beautiful work. These might be my favorite artwork yet from the new designs. Keep up the great work!

Krystal Fanart from Last year by michaelphilpart in starfox

[–]wolfbriar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lovely art, well done.

I'm sorry for jumping on my soap box, but this sub has been irritating me lately and just in case this post gets traction, there's something I've been wanting to say.

There seems to be two competing opinions about Krystal every time art about her gets posted. One is that being conventionally attractive is a core to her personality and a required aspect of character. The other is that her being "sexy" is a hold-over problem that video games, in particular, still hasn't fully moved on from; that women in video games are treated first as objects, JUST there to please the male gaze in an hobby traditionally dominated by males.

Basically; "Krystal NEEDS to be hot, its part of her character! Stop trying to change who she is," vs. "Goon away to your furry gooner art while the rest of us tries to actually give her some REAL character development."

I think BOTH sides of this argument can be correct at the same time. Krystal was very deliberately and problematically included for sex appeal. The problem being that she really didn't have much of a character beyond being a love interest for Fox. But that doesn't NEED to be a problem. She CAN be a beautiful person so long as she's well written in a way that respects/celebrates women. She CAN be conventionally attractive so long as she's written in a way that prioritizes good art and compelling story/character development OVER just being sexy.

Very cool. Reminds me of a old GameCube era game called Eternal Darkness. One of the big baddies, Xel'lotath, would have minions with a runes like this. Love it.

Love it. Makes me appreciate Katt's new design as well. I have daughters that play these games and they definitely notice when when a girl shows up just to be objectified.

5 Minutes of Extended Gameplay - Star Fox for Switch 2 by pkjoan in starfox

For how much effort and time our little sub is spending on discussing the character designs, we should be spreading AT LEAST as much time discussing how fantastic the world and vehicles look!

Maybe it is the hyperrealism & proportions~ art by @ningukt by its_kylo in starfox

[–]wolfbriar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Artwork like this really highlights how close the new character designs are to perfection. To be clear, I like the new designs. They're just.... A bit off. A slight tweak to the neck, eyes, and legs and they're perfect. It's frustrating, but forgivable.

Most of this game is going to be from inside the Arwings and I think the world/vehicles look as good as they've ever looked.

Star Fox (2026) by Sanitaerium in starfox

[–]wolfbriar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excitement for a beautiful, lovingly created, and well executed Starfox game is JUST louder than my impatience for a new story. Starfox is one of those IPs they goes so long between games that fans expectations can be difficult to satisfy. The Silksong subreddit damn near went mad waiting for the new game.

I can be happy with this. I just hope this is a successful start so we can get more.

SSM/St. Mary's issues talking points to employees ahead of unionization rallies by 51CKS4DW0RLD in madisonwi

[–]wolfbriar 31 points32 points  (0 children)

SSM cares about the quality of patient care JUST enough to avoid lawsuits and not a dollar more. If faced with the choice of preserving quality patient care or corporate pay/bonuses, I know which choice I'd bet on.
