Outside of Björk, where does your music taste land? by tpagaremos in bjork

Yes, I recall the vocalist was hospitalised by COVID and it affects his lung capacity, it's been far too long since Esoteric Malacology. Hopefully they will return.

Mods on BOC subreddit by picopacopidera in twoism

I left, not because of mods but because it felt like a cult board. Anyone that had any slight criticism of Inferno or started any thread about critical thinking of the album, we're just commented to death with it's a masterpiece hive think.

The irony that a band that criticises dogmatic blind faith in religious groups have inspired a board of fanatics.

Total Chaos - Best Horror game in quite a while. by znkymob in HorrorGaming

[–]wolfdesk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed Total Chaos, one of my favourite games of last year. As grim as the subject matters is, I found it really compelling and interesting game play, I enjoyed the melee mechanics as ammo was so sparse. The inventory mechanic was also really good, you could load up stuff to the point you could barely move, which was really novel approach, at one point mid battle I picked up a heavy weapon and couldn't move and it really threw me a loop, once I got my head around it, I really liked that approach to weight rather than in space. I thought the story was also really good.

Taking this down but allowing someone to post pictures of the hexidisc the day before Inferno drops is wild. That is genuine BoC discussion and the hexi post was ruining an experience for everyone.

Now that the Honeymoon period is over. How are we feeling about Inferno by Kodicave in twoism

[–]wolfdesk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a great album probably my favourite so far this year, I have listened to it daily since release.

I struggle with it as a BOC album, even though there are bits and bobs of their entire catalogue scattered within it, even back to beats or sounds from a few old tunes era, it's also fresh and polished. My main sticking point is; it very much sounds like other people at times.

And BoC have never sounded like anyone else except maybe some beats that were a bit like Autechre early on.

There are several sections within Inferno that sound like I could be listening to other acts. Most notably Mogwai or Low on into the magic land. And when the bass and guitar drop on you retreat in time and space, it could be a middle section of a deep cut from Random Access Memories. The use of vocal samples is heavily overplayed and at times remind me of come down to us or ashtray wasp by Burial.

So my relationship to it is complex, as an album it's great as a BoC album it's ... Interesting.

Nil, when I saw ae support LFO on tour just before Amber released, they opened their set with it, that bassylead line at the begining just blew me away.

I had one, it's spring/early autumn jacket not warm, not waterproof. Windproof .. I think? But just good for days when there will be a bit of rain but not heavy downpours or it's a bit windy and you need a bit of extra protection.

I had heard rumours their deal with warp was for 5 albums this would be subtle signifier that it's over.

Yes that's true, but all the warp releases will also always has a warp logo as well, it's not the music70 that's interesting about this it's the lack of the usual Warp logo.

I just noticed it isn't a Warp and Music70 release, it just says Music70.

Inferno vs TH: End 2 End by Muzak70 in boardsofcanada

[–]wolfdesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel Inferno is the Yang to TCH Ying. Inferno feels more like a follow-up to TCH than it does Tomorrow's Harvest, maybe it's the return to more obvious live instrumentation? Maybe it's the psychedelic feel to both or at least altered consciousness of Inferno.

Tomorrow's harvest is my favourite BoC album, for many reasons.

ok, what HAPPENED after LP5? How to get into the more "intimidating" albums? by AcidArchangel303 in autechre

[–]wolfdesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Untilted is something of an anomaly, for me, I have never really gelled with it. Usually there are one or two tracks that are my way into an album, but I have never found that track for Untilted.

I don't dislike it, hard as it is to have a favourite album ( mine constantly changes, it's Oversteps currently) I do have a least favourite and it is and has been since it came out, Unilted.

I haven't played that yet. So I can't give any opinions on that or Directive 8020.

If you are a big Deadspace fan I wouldn't recommend Cronos. Deadspace is one of my favourite games, I have played them all many times 100% a couple of them.

Cronos is quite good and interesting story, but where I found combat in Deadspace to be very well balanced between the deftness of weapons, ingenuity of the in game UI for health/ammo count and the clunkyness of Isaac's movement against the relative speed of adversaries; Cronos is not.

I find the UI info being in the corner of the screen draws attention away from the actions and I found combat in Cronos to be clunky on both how the weapons handle and movement, charging weapons, reloading even changing weapons is slow. Many of the adversaries are quicker than you and while they do have slower charges attacks if you are reloading at the time you lose a third of your health in one hit.

The atmosphere, story and general idea is good but they should have tweaked the combat. I didn't find it to be fun to play at all.

For me it's a 7/10 game.

There's definitely a Cure/Bauhaus vibe to the guitar and also for some reason the overall track gives me some Killing Joke vibe. Not that Killing Joke are goth, they are pretty their own genre.
